Five for Friday: Things I’ll Miss

Ack! I’m still in denial about today. I can’t believe it’s my last day

I have been with my company for 2.5 years and people I have worked with and the things I have done will mean SO much to me.

When I started at this job, I was 18 weeks pregnant with L. Yes, I was crazy and started a new job mid-pregnancy. I was actually about 10 weeks pregnant when I interviewed and wasn’t showing yet — so not only did I start my job pregnant, but I announcement my pregnancy on my first day (I think I said, “Guess what? I’m pregnant!”). Instead of freaking out about it or saying anything negative, the team was super supportive. A great way to start a new job! {thankfully, I DO NOT have to worry about that this time!}

While work is work, I’m still really sad I’m leaving and I’ll miss so many things. In fact, here are my top 5:

1. BK

BK is the reason I came to this job and to say I will miss him is an understatement. He’s our team lead and has done an AMAZING job. He is always there for you, he is always willing to make the extra effort to help you, and he has INCREDIBLE restraint. I kinda want to be BK when I grow up

2. The Laverne to my Shirley

Kate and I been friends since grad school, but somehow we JUST realized that we are a real life Laverne & Shirley.  We have worked together for the past 5 years and it has been SO. MUCH. FUN. Even when we were completely stressed out or had crazy deadlines – we managed to laugh and make it enjoyable. Kate really had my back last year and I can’t thank her enough for being such a great best friend! I know I will still see her, but there’s something comforting about knowing she’s the next cube over.

3. My girls

I can’t forget the rest of my “girls”! I know I will see them all again — and who knows, possibly even work with them again (this is a SMALL industry!), but for now I will miss working with them on a daily basis. I will miss our jokes, our bitching, and our daily chit chat. You know, girl stuff

4. Omeletes

WhileI find most of the food at the cafeteria kinda gross — Their omelets ARE AWESOME. I will miss being able to just run down and grab some food when I forget to eat breakfast or I’m running late (ummm like today, as I’m writing this post!). Thank you Omelete Guy for making breakfast for my countless numbers of times. I will miss you

5. Treks to get water and walks around the lake.

One of the perks of working at a big facility is that you can get up and go for a walk! Everything is far away. So, this WASN’T ideal when I was a gazillion months pregnant and I needed to pee 18 million times a day, but when it’s 65 degrees in the office (yes, it’s that cold) and you just need a breath of fresh air — it’s not hard to find.

Stuff I will also miss? IMing with Kari, Heather, & Kaycee (friends I don’t work with – but work at the same company), work potlucks (I have never been to such amazing potlucks!), LEWIS wearing a white women’s shirt, my manager’s Michael Scott moments, and the support and camraderie I have felt from EVERYONE I work with. I will really miss my little team — good luck and best wishes to ALL!

And now I’m off to start my day (well, after I put makeup on). Hope everyone has a GREAT FRIDAY!!
