Five for Friday: BIRTHDAY!

Obviously, I’m excited about my birthday (FYI, it’s Sunday, not today). I know people are supposed to hate their birthdays after age 25, but not me! I love celebrating. In my opinion, age is just a number. The fact that you’ve lived another year of life — full of experiences, learning, and fun should be revered! It’s not just about YOUR day – it’s about your mom (#1), your family and your friends that have been there for you!

So here are my top 5 memorable birthdays — and a few cute pictures thrown in for fun!

1. ACTUAL birthday – I don’t remember it, but I’m sure my mom does! What a day it was :) Life has never been the same!

2. 10th birthday – We borrowed a tent (I think – we might have stolen it!Kidding.) and my friends and I slept in the backyard. I remember junk food and Mad Libs. LOTS of Mad Libs.

NOT my 10th birthday (and no, that's not Livie) -- I think it's my 3rd and that's my cousin Amy next to me!

Also not my 10th birthday - maybe not even my birthday, but how cute is my brother??

3. 19th Birthday – The hubby and I had just started dating. I celebrated with him, Cole, my brothers, and ice cream cake!

4. 21st Birthday – My 21st birthday wasn’t your typical birthday celebration — I was actually at my cousin’s wedding! Happy Anniversary Jen & Chris :) Since I was in MA for my birthday — and I had a FL driver’s license THEY WOULDN’T SERVE ME. Instead – everyone else got me drinks! I remember my cousin John handing me my first gin & tonic. I thought it was DISGUSTING. Oh how times have changed.

Dan also gave me a “promise ring” for my birthday. Awww…so sweet!

5. 30th Birthday – We celebrated at Firkin & Kegler. There was a lot of beer (they were giving away free Dos Equis), a little dancing, and a lot fun. I also got a belated birthday gift some months later. If you do the math…

This is before Trisha and I decided to go home and drink wine. Sounded like a good idea at the time.

This year we’re keeping it low key — pizza, beer & Mellow Mushroom. Good times. Good friends. Fun memories!

What’s your most memorable birthday? It might be this year — especially with 12 miles before 6:30 to kick it off :)

  1. Happy (almost) Birthday!!

    I LOVED mad libs!!

    • Michelle says:

Thanks! I can’t WAIT to play them with my kids. Although, they probably won’t want to play them with me by the time they are old enough (they still sell them at Cracker Barrel).

  2. Maryellen says:

Wow.. time flies..you did change the world..for everyone involved.. and you keep on changing life for everyone..in the most positive and beautiful ways you know how. I am so blessed to have you in my life and so proud of the woman you have become. You Rock..Girl!!

    Happy Birthday..

    Love you..

    Mom

    • Michelle says:

Thanks for being a great mom :) And cheers to 33 years of motherhood — that’s expertise right there!

  3. Yay, I love birthdays! Happy early Birthday! You should totally start celebrating now!

    • Michelle says:

Thank you! I had to work – but now I’m home and I just poured my first glass of wine. Let the birthday weekend begin!!

  4. 1. Pink is an amazing color on you.

    2. Your daughter looks SO MUCH like you did at that age!

    3. Birthdays rock.

    4. I will buy you a drink the next time I see you. :)

    • Michelle says:

I love pink for a reason!! Thank you :) Isn’t it funny how much she looks like me? I always think she looks more like Dan, and then I look at my pictures and the resemblance is a little scary.

I’m sad I won’t be at the blogger get together next month – do a shot for me then? Ha ha.

  5. Happy Birthday! Sounds like a lovely celebration to me! I guess my 21st was my most memorable, but I guess that’s because I generally keep things low-key too. Enjoy the pizza n’ beer – can’t go wrong with that!

    • Michelle says:

Thank you!! I think my 30th birthday was as wild as I get – I’d much rather hang out at home!

  6. Happy birthday Michelle! Hope you have a ridiculously good day! :)

  7. Oh ya and I wanted to ask you if those Brooks shoes you got were the Defyance, and do you like them? :)

    • Michelle says:

They are Brooks Ghost 3 — and I’ve only done 1 treadmill run with them. The real test will be on Sunday!

I liked them this morning – although I think I need to buy something for arch support (stupid high arches!!). I didn’t have ANY bunion issues though – yay!

  8. I keep seeing 3′ssss everywhere…. Get the white pizza with mushrooms, artichokes and olives!! Yummy! (Spinach is great, too.) I remember DAN’S 21st birthday with you shadowing him at the blackjack tables… Great memories. Hope BOTH of you have fab b-day week.

  9. Happy Birthday! Hope you have a great weekend, enjoy your run, but take some time to relax too! :) Loved the 30th birthday….what were we thinking with the wine??? All I know is I got in the car, and in about 2 seconds we were all the way home! lol We need to get together…I know we’ll see you for B’s birthday, thinking we need a kid-free night out too! Have a great weekend!

    • Michelle says:

Thank you! Dan takes the kids to the gym between 8-10:30 so I get lots of relaxation time :)

We do need an adult night out. Are you guys doing anything for your birthday? Did Dan give you the details on B’s birthday party?
