*If you’ve read June’s Book and want to link up — you still have time! The link up is set to close next Monday (July 4th). There are a few linked in – so go check them out!*
I was going to do a vote on this month’s Book Club, but I decided to be selfish and just pick a book.
I’ve heard AWESOME things about this book and I’ve been jonesing to read some Young Adult so this month will be reading…
Divergent by Veronica Roth.
Synopsis:
In Beatrice Prior’s dystopian Chicago, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue—Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is—she can’t have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.
During the highly competitive initiation that follows, Beatrice renames herself Tris and struggles to determine who her friends really are—and where, exactly, a romance with a sometimes fascinating, sometimes infuriating boy fits into the life she’s chosen. But Tris also has a secret, one she’s kept hidden from everyone because she’s been warned it can mean death. And as she discovers a growing conflict that threatens to unravel her seemingly perfect society, she also learns that her secret might help her save those she loves . . . or it might destroy her.
Debut author Veronica Roth bursts onto the literary scene with the first book in the Divergent series—dystopian thrillers filled with electrifying decisions, heartbreaking betrayals, stunning consequences, and unexpected romance.
From everything I’ve read, it’s you can’t put it down good and it’s similar – BUT DIFFERENT- to Hunger Games.
My plan is to post Book Club questions on July 19th — with my Book Club post live on July 26th.

I want in! I love reading new books and discussing them with people. What do I have to do besides read the book?
I’ll post questions for you to answer. During the week of the 26th you can post your review and then come to my blog and “link it”. Or, you can just add your input to my comments! It’s up to you
Yay for joining in!
Ok, I’m in on this one cuz it sounds pretty good.
YAY! I already bought it – so feel free to read it from my account.
Hmm not sure if I am going to participate because I’m seriously jelly of a 22 year old who is published!!! But it’s only $9 via Kindle and I have nothing else to read. OK, I’m in.
LOL! I didn’t even look to see how old she was. That’s crazy young!
I should let you know that my bar for YA books is pretty low — as in “as long as the plot is cool and the writing is 800 times better than Twilight – it’s good.” Hee.
Sadly, I am the only person in America who has neither read the Twilight books nor seen the Twilight movies. I feel like I was in France or something when all that was going on, because the only actor I know from the series is that Robert person, and I don’t understand the appeal. He looks like he needs to eat a sandwich and invest in some bronzer.
Ha! I was pregnant with Livie when I read them – so maybe it was when you were going through your heart stuff? Honestly, I don’t think you are missing anything!
Um, ok. This book is AWESOME. It has made me realize two things: 1. I read too fast, and 2. I miss being 16!
Yes and yes!! I am trying to slow down the book, but I just want to read it in one sitting.
And while I don’t miss the drama and insecurity of being 16, I miss the naitivity (is that a word?) of it.
The library still hasn’t come through with my reservation request for June’s book club – bummer! I will try again for July
This sounds unlike anything I’ve ever read.
Oh no!! I’m sorry you missed out on last month’s book!! Maybe because it’s young adult it will be easier to get your hands on?
I’m excited. I just requested it from the library.
Oooooh… I got this as a sample not too long ago and it sounds very very interesting.. I’ll actually finish this one I’m sure
I think you definitely will! I started it last night and I’m pretty sure I’ll be done this weekend. Ha ha.
I just finished this book and could not stop raving about it, so I would love to participate. I don’t even mind rereading the book right before the discussion starts!
Yay! I can’t wait to discuss — it was SO GOOD! Look out for my questions – can’t wait for eveyone to join in!
I happened to read this book on my own this week. Is it too late to join? Divergent was so good!
Sarah S recently posted..Dogs, hip injuries, and creepers.
Nope – not too late at all! I’ll be posting questions next weekend. Be on the lookout
