I really can’t believe tomorrow is Friday!! Where has this week gone?
I didn’t feel good this morning (scratchy throat, post-nasal drop, sinus pressure – blerg) so I postponed my sprints until tomorrow. I actually got out of bed ready to run and decided to go back to sleep until about 6:45. Woo-hoo – sleeping in!
I loaded up on Vitamin C and Mucinex and headed to work. I was actually SUPER productive today (well, at least I felt productive) and temporarily thought I might be on to something with the meds, until I remembered Jessie Spano…
Just say no to drugs, kids.
I’m feeling much better – tonight and should be good to go for my run tomorrow.
Tonight for dinner I tried another Mama Pea recipe.
I’m pretty sure my family thinks I’m slowly trying to turn them vegan – which is NOT the case (I’m not sure I could ever give up seafood — everything else is negotiable). However, I do think it’s a good idea to eat a plant-based meal at least once or twice a week.
My family? They are a bunch of troopers — especially my hubby, who is open to my recipe ideas and will pretty much pretend to like everything I make
Tonight I tried her Orange Sesame Tempeh Stir-Fry. I thought it was great. The verdict is still out on what my family thought
I followed the recipe to a tee — skipping the snap peas (they are high on my “ew” list) and almonds (I forgot them). Oh, and I added an onion. I thought it was flavorful and nutty. It tasted like I had peanuts in there – and I didn’t.
Livie ate it – because Livie eats anything:
Braeden ate the carrots, because Braeden likes carrots (he also likes hamming it up for pictures)
Dan ate it, because he’s a great husband
And my mom said that she preferred her meat
That’s what she said mom, that’s what she said. (love you mom!)
On a completely different note — my mom is here babysitting because our daycare provider took some well deserved time off. Today she painted L’s nails today to match mine. Aren’t we cute?
Mother-daughter fashion shows are just around the corner. 90210 style of course.
You know, without the coke problem.
Do you take chances with your food? What’s your favorite 90s TV show? 90210 (the ORIGINAL) is up there for me.

Wow, did not see you as a 90210 person. I watched that for the first 3 seasons or so. I lost interest when Donna and David broke up. And I did not like Andrea ever.
Favorite show of the 90s? I’m gonna have to go with Life Goes On. I looooooovvvvved that show in a major way. I had a big ole thing for Chad Lowe. Soooo adorable. Then he married Hillary Swank and that was the farthest thing from adorable.
So, what does tempeh taste like?
Oh yeah, I was OBSESSED with 90210. I think I stopped watching after Andrea got pregnant. I didn’t HATE her, but I didn’t love her either.
I never really watched Life Goes On – except for the opening where they same the Beatles song!
Tempeh is fermented soybeans – so if you like edamame, chances are you’d like it. When it’s cooked it takes kinda nutty – in a good way.
Lol! I’d say a month or so ago I came across that episode of 90210 on some obscure channel! Poor Kelly…tough to live in Bev Hills.
. But yeah, that was my fave show too.
Totally impressed by the food your family eats. And jealous. Tim doesn’t eat vegetables (no, not kidding…my marathon training husband might eat a carrot and that’s it)…so, i can only get adventurous when it’s just me, or when I’m at my moms!
I saw that episode a few months ago (love Soap Opera Network – hee) and I thought “Man, Jackie is selfish!!” and “How is her teenage daughter so well adjused?I ‘m such a mom.
Tim needs more veggies!!! Can you hide them in his food a la Deceptively Delicious? Hee. There are a few things Dan won’t eat (artichoke hearts, sundried tomatoes, olives, hummus, avocados) so I serve them on the side, but otherwise he’s pretty open-minded. Thankfully!
Love the look on your hubby’s face in that picture. My family is also pretty good about trying whatever I decide to fix….which usually isn’t much! I go through phases where I’ll cook more, but usually I’d be fine with my hummus and nut thins. Hope you’re feeling better today!
That’s Dan for ya!
Honestly, I go through phases too. I try to cook something healthy and new once a week — although that doesn’t always happen. I think I’d be fine with hummus for dinner too. And wine
I loved Full House, Saved by the Bell and Boy Meets World!
Yep, yep, and yep! My hubby and I watched a lot of Boy Meets World in college (I think it was in syndication – it was definitely in reruns). LOVED that show.
Ha I remember that saved by the bell episode! I’ve seen them all!
I think I’ve seen those Saved by the Bell episodes AT LEAST 10 times each. Classic stuff!
