September Book Choice

September 1, 2011 by Michelle 11 Comments

I seriously can’t believe tomorrow is Friday — and a 3-day weekend!

Today zipped by – but I am EXHAUSTED. I was all gung ho to run last night – but this morning I had a hard time keeping my eyes open while I was doing my sprints.

funny-dog-pictures-time-treadmill

I ended up doing 6 x 800 at a 8:49 pace. I ended up doing 4.5 miles in 42 minutes. I felt good and could have done another set, but that meant I would be sitting behind school buses even longer that I did. Better than nothing!

So I have been SLACKING as far as my book club goes. I feel like there’s a lot of interest, and a lot of people read, but then don’t comment or post. Honestly, I’m just glad everyone is reading so I’m going to continue picking books each month with the hopes that I am not talking to myself 🙂 And if I am — so be it!

This month’s book choice is something I’ve been wanting to read for a while:

One Day by David Nicholls

Synopsis:

It’s 1988 and Dexter Mayhew and Emma Morley have only just met. But after only one day together, they cannot stop thinking about one another. Over twenty years, snapshots of that relationship are revealed on the same day—July 15th—of each year. Dex and Em face squabbles and fights, hopes and missed opportunities, laughter and tears. And as the true meaning of this one crucial day is revealed, they must come to grips with the nature of love and life itself.

I really want to read this book before I see the movie (Anne Hathaway – I love you!) — so I figured I would read the book with all of you!

I’m going to change it up a little — the plan is for me to read and instead of posting SEPARATE posts – I’ll post my review and some questions (and have a link in for anyone who wants to do their own review) in ONE post. Can you guys handle the change? 🙂

Anyone in? Or am I reading alone? Anyone read this book? I want to hear your thoughts!!

I definitely want to read this book! Unfortunately, I’m mid-way through two books–one of which I need to get done for work. I’m such a slacker when it comes to reading. Once I sit down and do it, I love it, but I never set aside that time for myself to read. If a miracle happens, and I get done with my two books soon, I’m in!

No worries 🙂 I’m actually in the middle of another book right now too. I figure this would motivate me to finish it!

      What are you reading?

You know, I wasn’t crazy about Anne Hathaway until she hosted SNL, and that made me love her. She seemed to snooty at first I guess, but I love that she’s got a great sense of humor!
I think Cely said this movie was AWEsome. Can’t remember for sure.

I’m in for the book club choice! I was planning on snagging a copy from work as we are carrying this title on the adult bestseller table at our book fairs! I just finished a random title I found at Borders at the clearance sale that I loved!! Deep Down True by Juliet Fay. Spent the whole day reading. Slacked a little on work as school not in yet for most of my schools yet and I work from home! Kids with their dad on Thursdays, so I spent the whole day on the couch with the dogs reading my heart out!! Don’t want to see the movie of your book pick til I read the book. Would love to post a review!

I’ve been on the fence about that book. For the most part, I love Anne Hathaway. But in those promos for the movie? Well, I don’t think she should attempt British accents. It’s not working for her.

But if you’re going to read it, then I’m in!

Yeah – I’ve been concerned about her accent too. Maybe I will be able to look past it??

I’ve good things about the book and that it’s an easy read. (and that’s what I was aiming for!)

I’ll be reading this one too! Just finished “I don’t know how she does it” yesterday and “The Help” 2 weeks ago…loving reading the books then following up with the movie. Plus the movies have turned into fun girls night outs….its a win, win!
