I’ve never been a winner.
You probably think I’m exaggerating, but typically if there is a raffle, a giveaway, or a door prize — I don’t win. Forget the lottery. Even scratch off tickets. I am a La-hoo-za-her.
So when I was selected for the GRAIL Tweetup (which starts tomorrow!!) it seemed to kick off a weird chain of events.
First – I won Leslie’s giveway
Then – I won Lauren’s giveaway
And THEN B got “randomly selected” to go a new Kindergarten class.
Oh wait – that’s not winning, right?
Unfortunately, in Florida they do something called a “10-day count.” This count ensures that classrooms are not overcrowded. If a class size is over the limit (in B’s case – 18 is the max) then they hire a new teacher and transition a “randomly selected” set of kids.
They sent home a notice on Friday that said the class sizes were over (duh) and they would be picking the kids and letting us know on Tuesday. I just KNEW when I got the notice that B was one of the kids moving. Call it mother’s intuition or just a gut feeling, but I knew it. And I wasn’t surprised when I got home and the letter was on the counter. Not surprised, but definitely disappointed.
I’m trying to see the positives — a smaller class, a fresh outlook, and someone who was previously unemployed has a job – but change is hard (on the parents).
What you can you say – guess I’m on a winning streak? Think I should play the lotto next?
Are a winner or a loser?
