Yesterday was a long day. A good day, but a long day.
It started at 3:15 and ended around 10:30. I considered pulling an all nighter, but decided that my boss and my coworkers probably wouldn’t appreciate it.
So, what did I do? Run, clean, play, sleep, and eat. In that order.
Run
This week was 14 miles. They were supposed to be brisk. I think they were brisk enough considering my legs hurt. This week was a little different – we had 2 Saturday runners join us. They were faster than me – even though BOTH of them have slower half marathon PRs. Crazy right? Marathon training has turned me into a turtle (it’s all mental, by the way). I was a good distance them behind them for at least 50% of the run. Not a BIG deal, but kinda lonely!
When we got back to the start my Garmin said 12.5 – so I convinced another girl (Rachael) to run the rest of it with me. Considering I skipped my Thursday run, I needed to met every bit of mileage that I could squeeze in! While we were running we discovered that her boss is my neighbor. Small world, right?
I ended up finishing my 14 in 2:17 – which wasn’t HORRIBLE. Just not the fastest I’ve run.
Clean
We got the new rug this week, so I steam cleaned the floors before putting it down. I love it:
Play
We met Dan’s friend Ramzi (random fact: he was the best man in our wedding) at the park to hang out, play frisbee, and watch the kids play. We lasted about an hour and a half before the heat killed us and we headed home. The kids loved Ramzi. I’m pretty sure Braeden wanted to go home with him. Don’t tell Ramzi’s girlfriend.
Sleep
I somehow managed to squeeze in an hour nap. It was GLORIOUS. (please say this using your Will Ferrell voice)
Eat
We met my mom/Norm, my brothers, and their fiances at Stonewood Grill to celebrate my mom’s birthday!
{Happy Birthday Mom!}
There’s was a lot of eating. And drinking. And celebrating.
{I ate all of this}
{They love the blankie}
It was good to catch up with my family. I feels like it’s been an eternity since we’ve hung out!
I finished up the night by coming home and working! I know – thrilling stuff.
Too crude? It’s pretty true.
Happy Monday!! Here’s hoping this week is less hectic – and includes more workouts π
What’s the favorite thing you did this weekend?Β How often do you get together with your family?
We had a great time last night..Thanks for coming out and celebrating with me!! On second thought.. do you celebrate when you get this old?? I guess.. I woke up and have a job to go too! … oh how thrilling!! Enjoy your week.. don’t forget to breathe!!
I’m thinking you shouldn’t be worried about that 14 mile time with the heat out there! Plus, not like your racing. I don’t think training has made you slower, I think you’re just not in a race situation with all the people, which is what makes you faster.
True about the race situation! I not necessary worried about – just bummed. Hee. I guess I’ll just have to start focusing on faster long runs after marathon training – because you know that’s when half-marathon season BEGINS!
I’m lucky that my family lives in Orlando so I can see them fairly often. Although, I feel like life has been so busy lately that I haven’t seen them nearly as much as I should or want to. Of course, I’m sure I’ll get family overload (in a good way!) over the holidays!
Family overload – I’m DEFINITELY familiar with it!!
Girl, even when you think you’re slower you’re way faster than me — take comfort in that haha I definitely feel like I’m getting slower with training, but it’s the only way I can hang for that many miles. My only goal is to finish the marathon so I’m just trying to focus on that & not get bummed about my slowness π
Agreed on the goal! I just really thought the longer miles and consistent speedwork would help me! Guess we’ll see after this marathon is over – because at that point, half marathon season begins π
Ohhh I LOVE your living room set! My parents just went shopping for new furniture and I should direct them to pick something out similar to yours π This weekend I enjoyed a football game and tailgating with my parents. I can’t believe I MOVE next weekend to Rhode Island!!
Thanks! We bought at Ashley Furniture when my hubby worked there. I love the chaise lounge!
Yay for football! and yay for Rhode Island!
K, Thought I posted this but it didn’t appear! I am a total cleaning nerd but wanted to know what you use to steam clean the floors. I have a almost crawler – well, he’s doing a lot of rocking – and my floors are yuck. Prolly the dog’s fault. Let me know! π
I have a Shark Vac and Steam! I rarely use the vac (sweeping just works better – I know you love to sweep – hee), but I steam the floors every weekend! I love it!!
