I had an epiphany yesterday. I am SO glad I am done with my 20s.
I don’t know why it struck me YESTERDAY, when I’ve been in my 30s for more than 3 years now, but it did.
Don’t get me wrong. My 20s were FUN.
- I graduated from college
- I graduated with Master’s degree
- I got engaged
- I found my first job
- I got married
- I bought my first house
- I bought my second house
- I had my first baby
And so much more in between the lines.
And then I turned 30. Actually WE turned 30.
And life is so much calmer.
You know. For the most part.
There is less drama. There is more stability. I know who I am (kinda). I know what I want to do (kinda). I am comfortable in my own skin (definitely). But there is still fun!
When I was younger I thought that 30 was SO OLD – and 33 was certainly ancient. And now I realize it’s the best time in my life. I have my youth (kinda) and the youth of my kids. I have some wisdom behind me, but I’m willing to admit I still have so much to learn, and do – and to look forward to!
Thank goodness for my 20s – for lowering my expectations, for teaching me that I can accomplish my goals, for allowing me to stay up until 4am.
And to my 30s – I love you for introducing me to anti-aging lotions, running, goat cheese, brussel sprouts, and good wine. I welcome you with open arms. Please don’t leave too quickly.
