TV Time – First Opinions

So it’s been a few weeks since the TV season returned — and I’ve managed to watch a gazillion shows. Some good. Some Eh. Some I’m thinking about dropping – and probably NOT the ones you think.

In anycase – here’s my preliminary review {opinions are subject to change}!

Will Always Watch

  • Supernatural
  • How I Met Your Mother

supernatural

I’ve gone on and on about both of these shows – Do I need to say more? I *heart* them!

Killing It

  • Modern Family
  • Up All Night
  • Happy Endings
  • Secret Circle

The-Secret-Circle

Modern Family, Up All Night, and Happy Endings are cracking me up on Wednesdays. All different, all hilarious. Can I say how happy I am to see Will Arnett in a funny, but likeable roll?? About time.

And then there’s Secret Circle. It’s like The Craft, but without Neve Campbell. Love.

Keeping Me Interested

  • Revenge
  • Person of Interest
  • Pan Am

PanAm

As I said before, I really liked Revenge. I’m looking forward to seeing where it goes. I am intrigued by Person of Interest, but I’m not getting to tied to it — and Pan Am was different than I thought it was going to be. I liked the “Alias” like twist. I did think Christina Ricci would have more of a role though.

On the Cusp

  • Ringer
  • New Girl

Ringer

I can’t give up on Ringer until Jason Dohring makes his appearance. (Logan Echolls for all of you Veronica Mars fans – which means Paula) and I kinda thought New Girl was “eh.” Of course, I only saw the 2nd episode. I really WANT to like it (actually, I really want to like both of these shows) — I just think are MUCH funnier shows out there.

Losing Me

  • Glee (Yes, Glee)
  • The Office

I think I’m ready to give up on Glee. I’m only watching next week because it has Coldplay. I’m tired of the characters. I’m tired of the show tunes. I’m tired of the relationships. I’m tired. And for The Office?? I kinda lost interest last season. Is it worth watching?

What shows are you watching? Anything I’m missing out on?

  1. I like the new girl! I haven’t seen the second episode but the first was priceless. And Blue Mountain State has been a fave of mine lately – it’s more of a guy show, but it’s pee your pants hysterical! Old episodes of Greek have been keeping me entertained too.

  2. I’m close to dropping New Girl too. I’ve seen both episodes and neither of them did it for me. Zooey is annoying, not funny, which I’m suprised about.
I watched my first Happy Endings last night and I was not impressed. The girl from SNL is way too spastic of a character (the one that moved in by herself). She’s annoying and I loved her on SNL.
The past episode of Ringer (the third one, I think) finally got me interested! And man…BRING ON Jason Dohring. *love*)
I like Secret Circle too. And haven’t seen Pan Am or Person of Interest. OohhhH! I love talking about TV! Weee!

  3. I watch Up All Night, Modern Family and Parenthood and that’s pretty much it. I’m not a huge TV watcher. I tried to get into Glee, but just couldn’t, although my husband likes it. (Not sure if he would admit that!)

  4. I’m getting aggravated by the lack of pop in Glee right now. It’s also annoying that Sam just dissapears with barely an explanation. I still like the office. I think the rest of the cast is carrying the show well.

  5. Ringer and New Girl are both on my maybe list right now too. I’m hoping that they both get better because I really like Sarah Michelle Gellar and Zooey Deschanel.

I think Up All Night is my favorite of the new shows this season, too. As new parents, my hubby and I can totally relate!

    • Yes — and yes!!!

I have to say – Up All Night is probably one of the more realistic shows on being new parents! I like that the mom is the one at work and the dad is at home — and that they actually show the dad having fun with the baby. I feel like so many “new parenting” shows just focus on the mom taking care of the kid!

  6. That’s how I feel about Revenge. I’m not sure yet, but I think it could be good. I just thought it started a little slow.

  7. I’m loving Wednesday too!! I saw Up All Night for the first time last night and loved it. Even Michael was hooked. I never watched Happy Endings before, but loved that one too. I think The Office is still worth watching. The first episode was pretty good. I’m totally over Glee. I’m just so annoyed with it and it seems to be getting really stale and boring.

  8. Totally on board with pretty much all of this. HIMYM <3 always & forever. Wednesday night comedies? Yes. Although still on the fence about Up All Night. I loved the first ep of New Girl, but this weeks was just not as good. And I liked Person of Interest–it seems like one of those shows like Law & Order that you wouldn't have to watch every single week but could enjoy when the mood strikes you. And you have me intrigued with the Alias connection to Pan Am. I am one of those people that still wishes Alias was on the air.

Oh, and Glee? There's not a single likeable character on that show. It's super annoying.

    • I wish Alias was still on too. I miss it :( And Michael Vartan.

I’m pretty sure that you, Paula, and I could sit around for hours watching TV. Screw marathons — marathon TV sessions is where it’s at.

  9. I just watched Up All Night yesterday on demand and loved it! We are expecting baby #1 so I am sure we can relate soon. I agree about Glee, I just got into it and watched seasons 1 and 2 at the beginning of the summer, but its like ER same bs different day.

  10. This is lame, but I haven’t watched ANY of the new shows. I have, however, read every single article written on the Alabama/Florida game.

    • LMAO. Thank you for making me laugh this afternoon.

I think I’m officially giving up on football this year. When I care, I just get disappointed (so dramatic, I know). *sigh*
