Leaning Tower Of….Christmas Tree

Tis’ the season to have a leaning Christmas tree.

We bought it yesterday — and it seemed to be straight.

Treeshopping

(Yes, in Florida we buy our trees wearing shorts and at Lowe’s)

We even put lights on without any issues (they might be crooked, but it wasn’t the tree!).

Treelit

But at some point it started leaning like mad and we can’t get it to stop.

At least it’s pretty…

(hmmm…might have a little hole there)

The kids had a blast decorating.

You’ll note that that most of the decorations are at the bottom of the tree.

Just as they should be!

I still need to find the tree skirt. Where did I put that thing?

Decorating the tree is always one of my  favorite parts of the holiday season. So many memories are part of this tree – including a marriage proposal, kinda. Maybe someday I’ll share that story. ;)

Up next is decorating the OUTSIDE of the house. Baby steps…

  1. Yes, we need to hear that story! A leaning tree has charm–I love it. :)

  2. I know what you mean about the baby steps! We got our tree up last night and I had all intentions of getting lights and ornaments on it tonight…but here it still stands with nothing on it…there is always tomorrow! But I did get my wreath up outside so yeah! for something!

Also I was looking at some of your past posts about books as I just finished Divergent and now want to read some more YA books…have you heard of “Matched”, “Fallen”, or Shiver? I think you read the “Maze Runner” and liked it so that is on my TBR list. Love that these books are fluff and stress free reading!

  3. Make sure all your best decorations are on the side opposite of where it is leaning. We had a leaning tree one year and thought it was hilarious until it fell over! Thankfully only a couple broke. :-)

  4. We were decorating our tree the other night and your Dad was telling me the same thing…when you, Ben and AJ were children, all of the ornaments were near the bottom too. In his case they were all at the top, so I guess like everything…it all evens out. : )
    Looking forward to Sunday!

  5. Christmas tree decorating was always fun!! As for the marriage proposal?? Waiting to hear this story!! I still have alot of the toy wooden decorations.. I’ll bring them on Thursday if you want.. if I can find them. Love the look on the faces of the kids.. they look so excited. B is growing up so fast!! Hope the tree doesn’t fall over when you’re away!!

    • You know the proposal story!

The tree fell in the middle of the night — so it should be ok now. We realigned it. *Fingers crossed*

  6. I love decorating the tree – it’s the only thing that makes it really “feel” like Christmas (I think) since we live in FL and it’s not really “Christmasy” outside. (And I love the little purple tutu/skirt your daughter is wearing…at least I hope that’s your daughter & not some other random child that I have skirt envy of!)

As for Vegas – You’re there until the 6th? I’m getting in late on the 3rd, have meetings all day on the 4th, but I’m largely free on Monday/5th. (Meetings start back up again all day on the 6th for me – nothing like a week of meetings in Vegas, right?!) Maybe we can meet up on Monday – I’d even be up for breakfast/coffee if we can’t get drinks in. Where are you staying? I’m off the strip @ the Hilton for this convention but can get over to the strip for sure!

    • We can definitely meet Monday! I have no plans, pretty much this whole weekend. We’re staying at the Venetian – let me know what works for you.

  7. Doesn’t everyone go to get the tree in shorts and t-shirts?! :) We always go to Lowe’s and get our tree too. The price is right and it is always a nice tree. I am so excited to get out tree this weekend.

  8. I want to hear the story!!

Your tree is so pretty, regardless of whether it’s straight or not. :) We’ve had to actually tie our tree to the wall before, because it would NOT stay up straight, no matter what we did (my family has a penchant for huge, fat Christmas trees that just might be a little too big for the house).

    • Dan proposed on Dec 22nd — so check back :) (I can’t believe it’s been 10 years!!)

Yeah – the tree feel in the middle of the night last night. It’s straight right now, but if it falls again we might have to consider anchoring! I LOVE big Christmas trees. I miss cutting them down though :(

  9. Wow Michelle, you’re so early with your Christmas tree. I like it though, this way you can enjoy the Christmas feeling for a month. :D
