I started writing this post for the 6 Weeks Bliss Challenge on Bliss Connect. For the next 6 weeks I will be writing about ways to reinvigorate my workouts, reinforce good habits, and encourage others (please join me!). But then I realized — today marks a YEAR from when I wrote my first post on this blog.
A YEAR!! This includes 620 posts, 5,326 comments (most of them mine – ha), and endless spam. Call it what you want – but I’ve documented a year of my life online and I’ve never said WHY.
So, why DO I blog??
The biggest reason is because it provides me with a journal that I can share with friends, family, and complete strangers (many who have become friends).
Truthfully, I am horrible at documenting my life on paper. I hate scrapbooking. I’m bad at emailing regularly. I don’t do baby books, but I love writing and I love taking pictures – and I love being nostalgic. In case you haven’t noticed.
I also enjoy the accountability blogging gives me. For the 5 months that I trained for my marathon this blog kept me motivated. Even if nobody read or commented on what I was rambling on and on about – it felt good to have it all out there. Could have I done it without the blog? Sure – but it felt AWESOME to be supported by so many amazing people, especially when I finished. Many of them I didn’t know the year before. My life has become fuller.
Ultimately, I blog – not because I think my life is anything special – but because I feel like there are so many people out there who are just like me. An average mom, wife, and runner. Someone who likes to have fun, who enjoys living a (mostly) healthy life, and loves running (even if it’s on the slow side). Blogging gives me an outlet and let’s me express who I STRIVE to be.
Thanks to blogging I have met some pretty amazing women and men — and I have gotten to know a lot of my own friends even better.
And finally, blogging has given me the opportunity to be more thankful. To say things I’ve always wanted to say, but just haven’t had the opportunity to do it.
So thank you for reading this past year – especially those of you who have been there from the start (and only rolled your eyes behind my back ). Here’s to another 620+ posts and many more moments and memories to document, I have so much more to share with you. Cheers!
