Thank you for all of the sweet comments on yesterdays pictures — it’s reassuring that my moments of crazy were worth it! This is my LAST Vegas recap. I’ve been home for almost a week and I’m ready to put this (very, very fun) vacation behind me.
So a lot of people asked me — “Did I gamble?” Ummm – not really. We spent about $8. What can I say – we aren’t big risk takers!
Then a lot of people asked — “Did you see any shows?” Ummm…Nope. We’re just not big show people. Plus, we would rather spend that money on food and alcohol. Obviously.
So what did we do?? For one, we did a lot of walking — and we also checked out some pretty fantastic hotels. Here’s some of what we saw.
We stayed at The Venetian — and let me tell you, this place is gorgeous. Every room is a suite – we just got a standard one (I can’t even imagine the fancy, expensive ones) with a King bed and 3 TVs (including one in the bathroom). We could have upgraded for a better view and whatnot, but we really weren’t there for the view of the strip.
The Venetian and it’s sister hotel Palazzo are attached and share a big mall. With a canal and a waterfall. And the sky. Of course.
(wishing well on top of the waterfall)
We meant to take a gondola ride – but it never happened. Guess we’ll have to wait for the real thing!
Outside the hotel they were celebrating “Winter in Venice” with amazing Christmas decorations and an ice-skating rink that cost a small fortune ($19 for 30 minutes. Say what?)
Caesars & Bellagio
We spent the last full day in Vegas walking around the hotels. It was slow going because my ankle was killing me (but at least my boots looked cute!) and we took in a lot of the sites and decorations.
When in (fake) Rome…
If the Bellagio doesn’t put you in the Christmas spirit — nothing will!
That night was Paris. It wasn’t my favorite hotel (it was REALLY smokey – I guess just like the real Paris) – but they way they incorporate the Eiffel tower is pretty fun.
We also spent a lot of time at NY NY and MGM — neither of which I got pictures of! I guess you could say a little too much drinking went on while were there.
There is one hotel that eluded me – despite Paula and I talked about how we WANTED to visit it — The Wynn. We could see it from our hotel room and we passed it during the race – but that’s as close as we got. Guess there’s always next time!
I can finally say this — in summary our trip to Vegas was awesome! There was never a dull moment and I think I’m STILL recovering (oh wait, that might from the office holiday party!). A huge thank you to my hubby for joining in and for Paula for helping me scheme a trip to Vegas.
Now it’s time to save for the next big trip — San Francisco and Sonoma Valley!
