Ahhh — it’s a race week!!
Since the last race I did I want to completely forget about — and the race before that was my marathon – I’m READY for a speedy race. I admit, I haven’t been following a hardcore plan and until 3 weeks ago I wasn’t really doing much in the speed work department – but for some reason I feel really GOOD going into this race. I even did something yesterday that I SWORE I’d never do… I ran more than 6 miles on the treadmill (8 to be exact) – and I LIKED it. And I ran FAST.
Since Vegas (and going back to my brunette roots) I have been running faster naturally and it gives me a little hope that I am going to kill my 1:58 half marathon PR sometime in the next 3 months. As much as I’d like to think it IS the change in hair color – I think it has a lot to do with my mental game (I feel mentally refreshed) and finally seeing someone about my ankle.
Speaking of my ankle, looky what I got today…
Oh yes, those are orthotics. I know you are turning green with envy.
I wore them for an hour (or so) tonight and will be gradually increasing wearing them until I hit a full day. I’ll also take slow with my running – testing them out a few miles at a time only after my feet have made the initial adjust. I really don’t need to eff up my ankles any more than I already have. I will say that the arch support is just insane and that my arches are ridiculously high.
As far as my workouts go – I’ll continue to wear my SuperFoots inserts in my sneakers until I make the full transition. And here’s what I’m doing in them…
- Monday – Off
- Tuesday – Run – 5 miles
- Wednesday – Spin
- Thursday – Run – 4 miles sprints (400s)
- Friday – Off
- Saturday – Off
- Sunday – 13.1 Miles in Miami – As fast as my clown feet can go!
As for my menu…
- Red Curry with Shrimp
- Tortellini Salad
- Chicken Edamame Salad
- Lemon Chicken with Roasted Brussel Sprouts
- Veggie Egg Scramble with Oven Fries
- Chicken Stroganoff
- Boca Burgers with Sweet Potato Fries <– what the hubby is making while I’m hanging in Miami
I actually made the Tortellini Salad for dinner tonight — I subtracted the sprouts and the pine nuts for chick peas and used minced garlic (instead of making it into a paste ) it was a MAJOR hit.
The recipe was really easy and perfect for a Monday night.
What’s on your menu this? Any simple recipe suggestions?

I have a good feeling about this speediness in you! I’m thinking Sunday is a PR day for sure!!!
I used to have orthodics that cost a fortune, then lost the shoes they were in. I know, who loses shoes, right??? This was in my early years, but I still have no excuse!

Not sure if I have a PR in me — but DEFINITELY faster than I’ve been the past 6 months. I hope you made it safely to Fl today!! I’ll email you with my phone number so we can meet up on Saturday. YAY!
Yay! I didn’t realize you had a race coming up! Fun! That salad looks so good!
I have been avoiding talking about it because I feel like when I focus on racing it psychs me out!
The salad was great – I’ll definitely be making it again.
