It’s fitting that Gasparilla was my 10th half marathon because it was one helluva race.
I’m still digesting the race — a full recap will be up later this week — but I can tell you it involved a little bit of rain, some forgetfulness, and a lot of wind. And by a lot I mean ample amounts of 30mph wind — with gusts up to 40mph. I’m just thankful I didn’t blow away into the bay.
It was my first Garmin-free race (not including Vegas – where I wasn’t trying for time) in a year in a half. More on that later.
My hair says, “HI!”
#10 is in the books: 2:02:47.
Nowhere close to a PR or my goal time. I’m not making excuses, there IS no excuse, but it was a tough race – physically and mentally. I almost quit running at mile 8. So glad I didn’t because this sweet-ass medal makes up for it.
Oh Gasparilla… I can’t quit you.
