Vegas 2.0 – The Wedding

Saturday we had another sleeping-in fail and woke up bright and early (around 7!). We decided to check out the hotel’s fitness center  – since we were paying the resort fee for it  (don’t you just love resort fees?) –  and found out that it was PACKED. I started off on some cross-country ski machine and I quickly discovered that cross-country skiing makes me want to cry. My ankle with the tendonitis was NOT a fan. Luckily, 20 minutes in a treadmill opened it so I ran 2.5 miles at an 8:45 pace. <– Drinking day prep

But seriously — you guys don’t care about my workout…

We again grabbed breakfast from Starbucks and then, after getting mostly ready, took the tram over to Mandalay Bay where we hung out with my brother, his fiance Christina, and my dad. As I was getting dressed, the groom arrived.

Around 11:30 I headed down to the honeymoon suite where the bride was getting ready.

Carissa was probably the calmest bride I’ve ever seen.

At one point she couldn’t find her jewelry — but no big deal with her. She just wore her sister’s. I’m pretty I would have been screaming. Or at the very least shouting the f word. But she just took it all in stride.

After approx. 20,000 pictures I made my way back up just in time to watch the groom and his best man suit up and snap a few more pictures.

And then it was time to head downstairs for the ceremony!

On the way, Christina and I decided we need to split a small bottle of wine – for good luck :)

There were 18 of us in total – so we all meet up with AJ and headed over to Valley of the Falls.

About 10 minutes later the ceremony started.

I teared up a little bit. It never fails.

The vows were quick – the officiant read a variation of Corinthians 13:4–8a:

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.

AJ and Carissa then exchanged rings and kissed — and made their way back down the aisle as husband and wife.

It was simple and sweet – just what they wanted.

After, we took pictures (some of the pictures below include the professional photos – they have the rights to the photos).

The group then headed to RM Seafood and started on cocktails and appetizers…

While AJ & Carissa ran around the hotel taking pictures (more professional photos):

Soon after they arrived dinner was served.

The food was DELICIOUS! We started out with several appetizers including calamari and lobster bites and then moved on to the menu. There were also many, many drinks.

And cake!

We wrapped things up at the restaurant around 5 and then made our way to BACK to Burger Bar. I’m pretty sure the bartender knew us by name. I honestly had no idea what was going at that point. I just know we made the decision to take a taxi to the Bellagio – where Christina and I drank insanely pricey glassy of champagne (thanks again Ben!).

And then went and watched the fountain. We lucked out and got to watch 2 Celine songs (a French duet and the Titanic song) before they shut it down due to high winds (did I mention it was SUPER windy allll day?).

I’m pretty sure I could watch those fountains for hours.

After, we did a little gambling and I won some BIG TIME money.

I think I spent it minutes later.

We then somehow ended up at the Cosmopolitan. Both Carissa and Christina loved this hotel, but I am still so-so on it. A lot of other people loved it too though — it was PACKED and there seems to be a lot of good luck in the air.

We kept losing Carissa’s family – but the hubby did manage to get a picture with Jay (Carissa’s cousin’s husband) and his coveted man bag. I’m pretty sure I know what I’m getting Dan for his birthday this year.

And then this is where things get fuzzy. I’m not positive how long we stayed. I just remember walking around the hotel with Christina, and watching my dad and my brothers playing craps but having NO idea what any of it meant.

At some point things got super hazy, I got mean, we caught a cab, and we somehow found our way back to our hotel room. {And truthfully, I am exhausted just writing this recap!}

Obviously, it was a great wedding day, enjoyed by all. I am so thrilled for my brother! And although Carissa has been in the family for many years, I am happy to say that I finally have a sister. I wish them both many years of health, happiness, and love. I know for them it was definitely worth the wait. Congrats again guys — and cheers!

Thank you! I got it a few months ago at Nordstrom Rack. I was actually going to wear another dress – but that one felt so “Vegas” to me when I got there!! It so comfy too — which sometimes is hard to find with cute dresses :)

I LOVED the bride’s dress – it was perfect for her.

OK, this made me laugh out loud several times. The first was cross-country skiing making you want to cry. That’s basically every piece of the equipment at the gym and me. Secondly, the man bag. Dan would look precious with one. And finally, “I got mean.” Why does it not surprise me that like me, you also tend to get belligerent after a long night of boozing? I’m sure whoever it was (or they were?) had it coming!

    Looks like a blast!

Seriously that thing made my right ankle SCREAM more than running! I am not cut for skiing! Dan thinks I am kidding about the bag. Ha ha.

I usually cry when I drink to much – but I vaguely remember calling Dan an asshole. More than once. I hope I wasn’t mean to anyone else.

As my drinking increased the quality of my photos went down — can you tell? LOL.

I also loved the bride’s mom dress – it was so perfect for her!
