I Swear We Did More Than Watch Movies

This weekend was so nice. How do often do I say that? It was busy, but not TOO busy. That’s the best kind of busy. And there WERE a lot of movies. But I swear we breathed fresh air as well.

Friday night we watched Mission Impossible IV Ghost Protocol.

MI4

MI4 was actually pretty good. I admit I was a Tom Cruise fan back in college, when he was hot and not crazy – so I have a thing for the MI movies. Also in it of course, is Jeremy Renner who, sorry ladies, I still can’t get into.

Also, this picture cracks me up.

So emo.

The movie was good. There were a scenes that almost gave me a heart attack. Scaling walls? Definitely in my nightmares.

Saturday consisted of running (meh) and B’s last soccer game of the season. Thank goodness!

B actually had a great soccer season and team – but it’s getting hot and he really wasn’t into the last game. I don’t think I could handle another game yelling, “Pay attention!”

We spent the rest of the day cleaning (me) and playing (the kids) — and then later that we watched E.T.

ET

(In case you had never heard of it. Ha.)

This is the first movie I remember seeing in the theaters growing up (it came out just before my 4th birthday) and was thrilled to see both kids enthralled with it. Such a classic!

Later, the hubby and I watch Captain America (I know I’m doing this whole superhero thing backwards). I thought the movie was just OK (in my rankings Thor was better) and I’m glad we Red Box’d it. Even though I’m not the biggest Cap fan – I do love Chris Evans. Maybe it’s because he’s a good ol’ Boston boy – by why isn’t he in MORE movies? (with his natural hair color please)

I even kinda like the beard…which is weird for me.

Ahem…

Today we got up and spent some time in our community pool. I have VOWED to spend more time in it this summer! Looks like Sunday is the day to go, since we were the only ones there. It was beautiful outside and there was actually a breeze! Perfect pool weather.

After lunch, we headed to the gym for a seriously intense spin workout. I took notes :)

After grocery shopping, we closed out of the night with the kids with some Muppets Take Manhattan, a new red curry/noddle concoction (it’s a little heavy – I need to find a way to lighten it) and some Blue Moon. I’m loving their Agave Blonde Ale. OF COURSE, it’s seasonal (and only available in the variety 12-pack – CURSE YOU BLUE MOON!).

And now…the kids are in bed and we can PARTY! Or you, know, watch Mean Girls.

Here’s to a new week!!

  1. A couple things:
#1 – um…what the heck is up with JR’s toes?! They look like FINGERS in that emo picture. Slightly creepy if you ask me!

#2 – I think ET was the first movie I saw in a theater & sadly, my only memory of it is bawling my eyes out at the end saying I wanted ET to come back & not leave Elliot. Apparently my mother had to drag me out of the theater because I was so upset and wanted to wait for him to come back.

    • 1. They were the first thing I saw and I thought the same thing. Hee.

      2. YES. It was the first movie I cried at too. I don’t think it helped that Drew Barrymore was roughly our age and bawling HER eyes out.

  2. the sleeping picture in the lawn chair on the grass should be entered in some kind of adorable kid photo contest. too cute!
