Random Ramblings

I’m feeling like rambling today, so let’s just get to it…

Running.
I was really weird not doing ANY kind of running this weekend. It’s been a while since that’s happened. I know I haven’t been doing a lot of long runs – but I usually try to squeeze in a few miles here and there. While I pretty much hated it, I also realized it’s good to take a break once in a while. Absence makes the long run fonder. Or something.

This week my running goal is to fit in at least 16 miles. Small peanuts compared to when I was marathon training! This is the plan. I might stick with it for a few weeks!

  • M – 20 minute Spin/2 miles on the treadmill
  • T- 4 miles
  • W – Spin
  • R – Boot Camp
  • F – 5 miles outside
  • S – 30 minutes Spin/3 miles treadmill
  • S – 45 minutes Spin/2 miles treadmill

I’m also pretty sure I’m going to sign up for a RACE! FOR REALZ! It’s a been a while since I’ve had the bug – but I didn’t want to sign up for anything that I was just “meh” on. However, when I got my Track Shack newsletter yesterday I realized I HAVE to race again. So the OUC Orlando Half Marathon it is!

Orlando Half

New name, same race — and one of my favorites. There’s really nothing like a hometown race!

I just hope this means they are changing the medal. It’s due for a change. I’m pretty sure they’ve given out the same medal for the past 5 years.

Decade.
This is how old our friend’s daughter turned today and it just BLOWS MY MIND.

Grace

That’s Grace. She looks way different now. And also, that is an unfortunate angle of the hubby’s pants.

Also a decade old today?? Our car!

Honda

(the only reason I remember this is because we picked up the car from the dealership and then drove over to the hospital!)

It was the first MAJOR purchase that the hubby and I made together (we were 24! So young. So innocent!) and it’s still alive and kicking. Just like us :) I think back to that summer and it I thought it was the most stressful my life would EVER get. I was planning a wedding, one of our cars died, and we REALLY didn’t have the funds for a new car — but needed a car. Of course, in the end, we worked it out. It’s funny how such big things can seem so trivial.

STFU

The {late} 90s/early Aughts (basically my college years).
Are back. Kinda.

No Doubt. (God, they are so cute)

Green Day.

Backstreet Boys (to which I say “gag” and also “Cuz I want it that way.”).

Who’s next?

OK… Your turn to ramble…

I’m new to your blog. I like your posts. You’re inspiring me to run. I just started back up after a year of strep throat (yes, I had strep 9 times in 10 months and ended up with a tonsillectomy at the age of 35. Not something I recommend) for me and my son (who had a tonsillectomy at the age of 3 this past March and fared far better than I did). Thanks for that. Not sure how I came to you, but I think it was when I was looking for questions for my book club on Divergent (Great book, but I loved Insurgent more- how that’s possible, I don’t know). Oh! Also, I read The Bungalow by Sarah Jio this past weekend and thought of you because I saw Violets of March was a favorite. I have yet to read that but if it’s as good as The Bungalow, I’ll have it done in no time. I’m actually still stuck in that book and can’t get out, but I love it.

Back to the reason I’m actually commenting…. The Track Shack. When I saw that, I thought of my old pastor and his wife who now life in Florida and frequent the place. Thanks for letting me remember 2 amazing individuals with great stories. :) That’s all. Have a good day!

Hooray for signing up for a race! So exciting. It’s always nice to have something on the docket.

So, I’m super happy to see No Doubt back in action and not hate them (couldn’t stand “Hey Baby” or whatever songs they released a decade ago). This new track is good and really harkens back to their “Tragic Kingdom” days. And if it’s even possible, I’m more envious of Gwen’s body than I was in 1996.

I got the Track Shack booklet too and I’ve now got a case of race envy.

I remember when J got his car in 2006 while we were still in law school. Definitely was a huge deal to buy it. Everything is relative, I think. :)
