1. School starts next week and the last minute procrastination of buying school supplies is in full effect. I actually picked up most supplies at Publix (BOGO!) and Target– but one supply eluded me. This EFFING SHOE BOX.
I actually found the bottom part of the box at Target — but for some reason there were ZERO lids. Are people just walking out of Target with extra lids?? Are lids like a thing? I mean this whole set cost 97 cents. Is lid stealing necessary? When I asked the Target worker about it she a) looked a me like I was an idiot who couldn’t find a lid and then b) recommended I buy another similar item that cost $5. Yeah (or should I start saying Jeah?), no thanks.
We then checked CVS, Walgreens, and Walmart — and nada. I swear, every year it’s something (last year it was an elusive purple folder).
2. We got to meet B’s teacher tonight and he was soooo quiet and reserved. Umm, who is this kid? I did mention to her that he is a social butterfly and a wanderer — and then as we were packing and leaving another mom said the same thing about her boy. Remember when I freaked out about his behavior? Turns out he is not alone and that just made me feel so much better. Why isn’t there a handbook????
This year brings a big change for B – instead of going to his daycare after school (where he gone since he was 18 months old) he is going to extended day at his school. I’m excited because they have a GREAT program (they have all kinds of activities and clubs — B signed up for basketball tonight) and my bank account is going to be SOOOOO happy. B unfortunately realized tonight HOW big a change this is going to be and he was NOT happy. In fact, there might have been tears.
Ultimately, I think he’s going to have so much fun — but we all know that change is hard, even for a 6 year old.
3. To me, the worst part about Summer Olympic years is that they are also Presidential Election years. I AM SOOOOOOOO sick of the politics already. I swear my head is going to explode. Between the constant ads where they are bashing each other (how does that help??) and the constant Facebook posts where people think they are going to “convince” me that their candidate is a better pick (umm, if anything it make me want to hide you forever)…make the madness stop!!
For the record… I am neither a Republican or a Democrat. I am socially liberal. However, I am fiscally conservative (and I really despise big government). It’s hard to make a choice between the two. This time around, both candidates piss me off — and both candidates have aspects to them that I like (I guess). But watching all of his propaganda? Makes me want to give up voting all together (and also throw up a little in my mouth). Arghh.
But you know what makes me laugh??? Paul Ryan Gosling… that’s who. You should totally follow him.
Hey girl, ask not what my cowlick can do for you — ask what my cowlick can do for your country.

Can’t we all just get along?
3 Random Questions: What item do you own that was the hardest to find? Did you do any kind of extended day program growing up? Republican, Democrat, or in the middle?
