I have a love – hate relationship with the first day of school. I love it because of pictures like these…
and this…
I despise it for the traffic, the headache, the chaos and did I mention the traffic?? I’m hoping tomorrow is better. Hope being the key word.
Despite my woes, the kids had a great day. Today was B’s first day of 1st grade (I keep wanting to write Kindergarten <—seems like that was just yesterday!) and L’s first day of Preschool 2. Moving on up!! As I predicted, B LOVED extended day – and is excited about his first “cooking class” tomorrow.
In other news I had a such a great workout week last week!
I managed to fit in 6 workouts and do ALL of the strength training workouts from Tina. While I’m sore and I was definitely challenged, the workouts weren’t impossible, which I appreciate. Workout C was the most difficult one for me to get through. I don’t know if it’s because I just didn’t love being “pressed for time” (it’s a timed workout) or if it’s because I just wasn’t feeling ANY kind of workout on Saturday.
One thing I’ve been remiss about mentioning are my goals! Each week we are supposed to pick two goals and stick with them. My first goal is always DO THE PLANNED WORKOUT. It’s kind of a broad goal, but there are plenty of times where I will have a challenging workout planned out for me– and then I go to the gym and wuss out. With the exception of last week – I have been doing pretty good with this goal!
My second goal has changed each week, last week’s was to go to bed early (that’s before 11 for me – ha!) and for the first time I ACTUALLY hit my goal. Amazing.
I’ve decided to switch up my goals this week — and now that I’m posting them, I am holding myself accountable!
1. Work out in the morning – The start of school also means that I get to work later/stay at work later — so no more afternoon workouts (unless I’m not taking B to school). I got “lazy” this summer and found excuses to skip out on my early morning wake ups — but this can’t happen anymore!
2. Drink more water – I fail when it comes to drinking water. My goal is to fit in at least 64oz of water every day. So far, so good — but I tend to peter out as the week goes on, so we’ll see!
That said – I’m ready for a new week. Bring on the NEW Phase 3 workouts!!
Pick 2 goals for the week (not necessarily fitness related) — what are they??
I love love love your little guy’s shoes. I didn’t know they had tiny versions of those. I am gonna have to go find some for my daughter. And I can’t wait for the first day of school. Ours starts next week but unfortunately, my oldest starts on Tuesday and my youngest doesn’t start until the following week. This momma is so ready to have some quiet time. 🙂
Oh man – I bet you are ready for them to go back!! Ha ha. I bow down to you 🙂
B just LOOOOVES the shoes. He thinks they are just so awesome and asks me to go running with him ALL THE TIME. I love that i’ve turned him into a little runner! I bought them Road Runner Sports http://www.roadrunnersports.com/rrs/products/BKW1550/ (they have them in hot pink and red too!).
My goal throughout the bootcamp has been to stay out of the stupid candy dish at work. You’d think it’d be easy. It’s not even good candy, it’s like random hard candy, but I cannot seem to stop eating it.
We have a candy dish like that too! Thankfully it’s on the other side of our building – I would probably eat way more than I ever needed to if not.
Those pictures are too cute!!! Love those new shoes too onB!! Very cool! We don’t start back until next week and we are taking in our beach week this week. We are all going to be in a state of shock come next Monday morning!! My son slept until 9:30am this morning!!
One of my goals would be to get in some form of exercise every day this week while on vacation, and the other would be to figure out how to handle the kid in-fighting without getting intertwined in the fight as well.
Oh! Just noticed your new header, I like it!
I’m jealous of your vacation! Because of all of the wedding travel we did this year – we couldn’t squeeze anything in this summer. I am lucky that my dad lives at the beach though — we’re going this weekend! I’m also jealous of the whole sleeping in until 9:30 thing. I think the latest my kids have EVER slept is 8. They are early birds.
I hope you hit both of your goals. If you find out any secrets to the fighting – let me know!!
YAY!!!! Such a great week!
And my goodness, they are getting SO big! I can’t believe it. I have a hard time imagining M and B going off to school looking like that one day, but I know it will happen in the blink of an eye!
It happens SOOO fast. I think L and M will start PreK together next year, right? (assuming you guys have PreK) How crazy is it that it’s so close??
First day of school pictures warm my heart. I can’t believe it’s “fall” already! Those are some good goals and ones I need to keep in mind too. When I get swamped at work, I neglect sipping on water because I don’t want to take so many bathroom breaks. It’s so silly. I need to drink more water!
I’m the same way with water – and really I just hate the taste of it. It’s easier to get at least 64oz though when you drink 32 during your workout! Of course, my bladder is all “what the hell?” this morning 🙂
I love the idea of picking two goals each week! My goals for this week are to go to bed on time for the remainder of the week (this hasn’t happened in a while and I’m paying for it), and to drink at least 64 oz of water every day. I was doing really well with that for a while but got off track. Hope your kids enjoyed their first day of school – they are too cute!
Hope you are hitting your goals this week! I managed to climb into bed last night at 9:30. It was a bonafide miracle!
I LOVE the picture of you and the kids.. B’s face looks like “I don’t know these crazy ladies”. So cute! And his face with his sister hugging him, I just love it. Next week is my turn to post pictures, I’m ready for them to head back!!
I’m going to have to check out those Brooks for Hayden. He came up to me out of the blue yesterday and said “Mommy, we need to do more runs. I need more medals.” Awww… that’s my boy, a medal whore like his mommy.
LOL about Hayden being a medal whore!! Who DOESN’T like medals? You should totes get H those shoes though (they have pink if A wants a pair!) — then B & H can be almost birthday twins!
