How to Have a Low Key Weekend

I can’t remember the last time I had a weekend with such little planned. I’m pretty sure it’s been MONTHS and let me tell you, it’s been WAAAAY overdue.

It started off Friday night with a new phone.

And I didn't even have to wait in line/get up early to order it...

I know, I know…exciting stuff.

I bought the phone on the hubby’s line – but he gave me the upgrade (because he knows I care waaaaay more about technology than him). I thought it would be a pain to swap lines (and involve a trip to the AT&T store), but it just took a phone call and it was surprisingly easy. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.

Later that night we watched Cabin in the Woods, which was… interesting.

I read a lot of great reviews and heard a lot of great things about this movie and I thought it was just alright. Not that I didn’t appreciate my hot Australian husband (sporting the short hair, which I much prefer – see above) and the movie definitely captivated my interest, but I wasn’t blown out of the water amazed by it. So what was it that people loved? The hubby and I both thought it would be scarier or something.

Saturday morning was supposed to be a hectic, but due to the torrential rains we’ve been experiencing (does it ever end??) B’s baseball game was cancelled and I only had L’s dance class and a trip to the gym on the agenda. It was nice not having to rush around, but it was also a “what the heck do I do with them?” kinda day. So we relaxed (i.e., wore our pajamas), watched Monsters Inc, and later there was a lot of overdue cleaning (I cleaned, the kids played somewhat nicely in their rooms). We also got PUMPED for last night’s game…

Speaking of the game, I watched about 1/3rd of it and then headed to bed. When I went to bed we were still losing, when I woke up we won! Woo-hoo go Noles!  And yes, apparently I was the jinx.

Today was even more low key. We spent about an hour at Starbucks for breakfast (this is what happens when you run out of coffee) and then after a quick lunch headed to our favorite Sunday afternoon spin class. The afternoon was full of naps (not mine) and grocery shopping and then we closed out the night with some Easy Chili, football, and the Emmys.

And that my friends, is a relaxing weekend.  Hope yours was just as low key :)

  1. Mine was pretty low key just cause I’ve been getting over a cold. Sometimes low key weekends are just the thing we need.

  2. Your words against Cabin in the Words hurt my soul. I loved it. I never got the impression from the trailer that it was supposed to be really scary because it had a campy factor to it. I just loved that it was pretty original compared to a lot of other horror movies out there. And let’s face it, I watch them all so I’m the expert. Hee.

  3. Ummmm that sounds like an amazing weekend. Honestly, I long for weekends with no plans. Does that mean I’m boring? haha

  4. I love low key weekends. They are few and far apart, that’s for sure. Glad FSU pulled out the win!

  5. I saw that pic on FB and about died. Your kids are the cutest. Seriously. I just want to squeeze them!

Maybe if I go to bed while Michigan is playing they will stop sucking so bad. One can hope.

Glad you had a nice, low-key weekend!
