A Pretty Perfect Weekend

November 11, 2012 by Michelle 5 Comments

Whenever I have any doubt about why I suffer through the heat and the humidity of the Florida summers, I need to remember this weekend. Not to brag, but the weather has been all but perfect. Lows in the high 50s/60s (at night and early morning) and highs in the mid-70s. I have to say, this weekend echoed it’s beautiful weather. It was pretty perfect.

Yesterday was a busy day. We left the house at 8 to head up to the gym and didn’t get home until close to 3. We spent at least 3.5 of those hours at Target (be impressed that I only bought hairspray, makeup, a sandwich, and glasses for a 6-year old).

These are the ones we went with.

I rewarded myself by suggesting Sweet Tomatoes for dinner. I’m pretty sure everyone won!

This morning, I met up with my neighbor Meghan for a long run. She’s running the Space Coast half in 2 weeks and, like me, needed to run 12 miles today. Also like me, she’s pregnant!

Meet Meghan – guess how far along she is! (Hint: She due before me)

It’s funny because we actually kinda met through this blog, even though she lives just around the corner from me! We’ve been talking about meeting up for a while now and it’s just never happened. Pregnancy and racing finally brought us together.

We had a great run that fly by! We made a few bathroom breaks (we are really curious to how our races are going to go in the new few weeks. I’m thinking I will be visiting a few port-a-potties/bushes!) and walked every mile. It also took me about 4 miles to realize how I needed to wear my fuel belt. Wearing it UNDER my belly is not working (it makes me want to pee about 2 seconds after I start running), so I put it up under my boobs (yes, I said boobs). I’m sure I looked all kinds of special, but it worked!

My only complaint about the run is that around mile 10 my ankles and feet started aching. Normally, I would question this, but I really think it’s my hormones at work. Dr. Google is telling me that the hormone relaxin is hard at work. Nothing I can really do about them except stretch and ice – and listen to my body when it’s had enough!

I finished up the morning with hubby-cooked pancakes and a nice 2-hour nap. Napping is the best!

The rest of the was spent relaxing, spending time doing absolutely nothing, and food shopping – so basically the perfect Sunday!

And before I forget – a huge Woo-Hoo! to my brother who placed first in his class yesterday at his last competition of the season! He sent me this picture, so of course this means I have to post it. He’s taking some time off now to enjoy food, the holidays, and not looking like an Oompa Loompa 🙂

Congrats little brother!

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend — and a huge thank you to all of the Veteran’s who have dedicated their lives to protect my freedom. Happy Veteran’s Day!

The picture of your brother is so out of control! Congrats on the win — and being able to return to a normal skin color. 🙂

Nice run and so cool that you found a new running partner in your ‘hood. Do you know that I’ve still NEVER run with someone else? Yeah, I’m a bit scared to do it. I probably should get over that one of these days. I’ll wait until you’re 36 weeks pregnant — then maybe I’ll be able to keep up, or at least catch up during your pee breaks!

I could run with you NOW! It’s really fun running with someone else because you can completely start rambling and forget about anything else you are doing!! If you ever want to give it a try – let me know. We can meet somewhere 🙂

[…] While I did a majority of my long runs alone, there were a few key runs that I did not want to do to save my life, where running with friends pulled me through. The biggest one was my 12-miler that I did a few weeks ago with Meg. […]
