Ahhhh! I’m running a half marathon tomorrow!
Excited!!
I actually have butterflies in my stomach about this race (although, there’s also a chance to it’s the baby. Or, let’s be honest here, gas.). Like I said earlier this week – I’m MOST concerned about the porta potty situation and thankfully Track Shack assured me that there WILL be port-o-potties-a-plenty.
Dear @trackshack you will have porta potties on the #OUC 1/2 course, right? My 17 week pregnant body (and bladder) thanks you ahead of time!

@crzyrunninglegs Great question!Ports potties near each waterstop! There are 9 water stops.

@trackshack Awesome! I never thought I’ve been so excited about porta potties 🙂

I’ve been a good half marathoner this week. I’ve worked out twice (as usual), but I really concentrated on doing a lot of sitting down and not moving the majority of the time. I’ve also been eating like a horse (or whatever animals eats an enormous amount of food – don’t horses eat hay?) and hydrating all day.
I picked up a few gels, some KT Tape, and some Nuun on the way home from work (and umm, candy).
While Paula picked up our boobs bibs from Track Shack.
You know it’s Race Eve because tonight’s dinner is featured pasta and chicken sausage. Carb loading is my favorite.
Most importantly, my cheerleaders are READY!
I probably wouldn’t go to such great lengths to prep for a half marathon (because I am apparently now a race snob), but I have NO idea how things are going to go tomorrow. A part of me is just thrilled to be racing again, but the other part of me is a little worried that I might get too carried away at the start and then regret it later. So I’m mentally prepping myself to start slow. REALLY slow.
If you’re going to be at the race tomorrow you should probably know two things…
1). You won’t be able to miss me. I will very bright and pink.
2). Yes, the fuel belt IS under my boobs, thanks for asking. I thought about not wearing one at all, but I like having my phone on me and someplace to store my stuff. I tried wearing it below my belly during my 12 mile run a few weeks ago – but it either pulls my shorts down at an awkward angle, or makes me want to pee more than usual (which, as I’ve mentioned, is a lot). Plus that’s exactly where the baby is right now (well, that’s where I feel kicks) and I don’t really need extra Braxton Hicks contractions while I am running.
I know I said I didn’t have any goals for this race – but deep down, you know I do. I won’t kill myself to hit these goals (and obviously I wouldn’t do ANYTHING that would jeopardize the health of my baby), but they are there nonetheless. Stupid goal setting mentality.
A Goal: To NOT Personal Worst. My PW is from my very first half marathon — Disney’s Wine & Dine — @ 2:26. This is roughly a 11:10 pace (I think. I’m not good at math. I could be wrong about this). I’m thinking there’s a good chance that I could come in/around this number.
B Goal: To NOT pee at every port-o-potty/NOT pee on myself. Neither sounds like fun, but I note I am wearing dark shorts.
C Goal: To NOT trip on the bricks. There’s usually some brick running near the end of the race. I’d like not to fall.
D Goal: Finish with a smile on my face. Really, that’s always the end goal and this is definitely one I KNOW I can hit.
One thing I know for CERTAIN is that BW3 and I are SO excited about running together tomorrow. He/She may not realize it, but this baby is about to become a half marathoner!
I’ll try to find you tomorrow! I’ll be wearing black crops and a red and blue tank top, though I’ll probably have a long sleeve shirt on to start, I’m #675. Hope you and baby have a good race. 🙂
Yay! I will keep an eye out for you too. I have no idea what my bib number is – guess I’ll find out in the morning 🙂 Good luck to you!!
I always got your boobs, baby.
Don’t I know it…
You’re going to do AWESOME tomorrow! I can’t wait to hear how it goes.
Hope you have a great run! I am confident you will not pee on yourself. Have fun!
Michelle hope you have a great race day you can do it
Boo I am jealous I was all set to run and managed to get a stomach virus last night. If I didn’t think I would make myself so sick I would end up in the hospital I would be there and excited about the bathrooms too.
UGH!!! I hope you feel better. That really does not sound like fun 🙁
I hope you and the babes had a terrific race! 🙂 I just finished a 5 miler, so your half marathon puts me to shame!
