Three Things Thursday

It’s a Thursday that feels like a Tuesday. Wait. Huh? What year is it again?

This whole “holiday on a Tuesday” thing is definitely throwing me off. But I’ve checked a million times and it’s for sure Thursday, so here we go:

1. I got my very first blue box last week!

Yes, that kind of blue box.

I’m not into getting big flashy gifts or jewelry, but there IS something about getting a gift from Tiffany’s that is special.  Of course, it wasn’t just for any occasion… for our 10th anniversary Dan picked out this beautiful necklace for me!

I got him a tie clip (I was aiming for something with diamonds since that is the “modern” gift for a 10th anniversary and the man does not really wear jewelry) and cycling shoes (with cleats). I’m pretty sure my gifts to him pale in comparison – but I think he was pretty excited about his shoes.

We were supposed to celebrate our anniversary with a fancy-schmancy dinner about an hour away, but our babysitting situation fell through. Thankfully, our friends volunteered to watch the kids, but we decided to stay closer at home and went to Hillstone instead with the intent to go on the fancy date at a later time. I WILL happen.

2. While I’m ready to tell you (in a heartbeat) that I’m feeling huge already, I’m not quite ready to admit that I’m having  a baby in 4 months.  Eek. Remind me I said this those last few weeks! Now that 2013 has arrived, I decided to start thinking about and buying baby items. I did save a few items (bouncer, pack ‘n play, boppy, crib, changing table, and various bigger toys) there are a few items I want/need to buy. Today I picked up the first thing on my “to buy” list — a co-sleeper (thanks for the tip Jackie and Katy!).

cosleeperI’m excited about not having to stumble around in the middle of the night trying to find the baby like I did with B &L. They are surprisingly hard to find when you are sleep deprived.

I will say that the rest of my list is pretty short… I need to purchase a new infant car seat, burp clothes and swaddle blankets, and look into getting a new pump (which MAY be covered under the Affordable Care Act?). Oh, the excitement!

I have decided to give myself a deadline for getting the baby’s room prepped by the end of February. This also means we’ll be redoing L’s room and cleaning out ALL of the junk in what is now our guest room. I have my work cut out for me! Thank goodness for nesting. We plan on painting the room grey (not sure which shade, but I’m really tempted to make a 50 Shades of Grey joke here) and then buy the bedding and whatnot once the baby arrives. I’m thinking aqua and grey it’s a boy and purple and grey if it’s a girl. We’ll see though!

3. So… running. Remember I sometimes do that?

JazzHandsOUC

I feel guilty sometimes because “running” is in my blog name and I’m not talking about it much. Or ever. The good news is that at 22 weeks pregnant I am STILL running!

22 weeks! Do the stripes make me look bigger or smaller??

It’s not fast. And it’s not always comfortable, but what is new these days? I’ve been running 2 miles on the treadmill before strength workouts and then trying to do 5-6 miles later in the week. I  still haven’t done a long run since the OUC Half and after much consideration I don’t plan on doing one leading up to ZOOMA (only 2 weeks away!! Have you signed up? If not — use my code: FLAMB1 to get 10% off and DO IT NOW!!).

The one thing I LOVE about ZOOMA is that there’s no pressure to have the perfect training plan or have my best race ever — but the point is have fun, which is definitely going to happen! There may be a lot of walking, but I will cross that finish line.

As for the future of running? As of right now, I’m going to keep at it. I thought I might give it up after the race, but as long as I am not too uncomfortable, I’m going to keep going. And not just because this completely blows people’s minds (I have gotten so many “eyes bugging out of head looks ” when I say I’m still running!), but because running still gives me that incredible high and just make me feel great about my body! And truthfully, I can get all the help I can these days! I do have more thoughts on running while pregnant that I’ll save for another day. Let’s just say while I’m all gung-ho about it today there are plenty of pity-party days!

OK – off to watch Homeland. Yes, we are finally getting around to watching that show!

Three Random Questions:

  1. Do you have anything from Tiffany & Co? If so, what? If not what would you like to receive?
  2. Do deadlines help you or hinder you?
  3. When the last time you got the “eyes popping out of your head” look from someone and why?

  1. I have a few things from Tiffany and I do love all of them! Your necklace is beautiful! Also I just wanted to give you the gray “Stonington Gray” by Benjamin Moore as we have used it and it is great! Happy 10th Anniversary!

  2. Kevin also got me my first and only blue box–pearl earrings for one of our anniversaries. I love them! Way to keep up with the running. That’s awesome!

  3. I love that necklace! It’s so pretty. I love the simplicity of it. I’m not a big jewelry fan, but I do love rings. Salt Lake City just got their first Tiffany & Co last year. I just want to go in & browse.

I think the colors for your baby’s room is so cute!

  4. Your necklace is beautiful. I actually got the single stone version of it from my boyfriend (now husband) when I graduated from my masters program. It is great because you can wear it with just about anything. I have a couple of other pieces too and it is so fun to go and look around.

I think the colors for the baby’s room sound great. Deadlines are so helpful for getting things you don’t really want to do done.

Congrats on still running. You will do great in the half.

    • I love the single stone version too – very pretty and simple! I’m all about simple jewelry.

I swear deadlines are the only way I get things done! They might be self imposed, but I NEED them.

  5. I used to have a running partner who ran when she was pregnant and people always stopped and stared! It really was quite a sight! It made me feel like I could never complain when I was running with her because she was running while pregnant. If I got a cramp, I had to just run through it because she was running with a tiny human inside her.

I have 3 bracelets from Tiffany’s. Whenever I take a trip with my mom and sisters, we all get matching Tiffany bracelets to remember the trip. :)

    • I LOVE that you and your mom/sisters get matching bracelets. That makes me want to have sisters!

I think I probably complain less now running pregnant than I did before – ha ha. Mainly because I am sloth-like slow. Although, I would like to have to take less bathroom breaks!
