Happy St. Patrick’s Day!!
If you follow me on Instagram, you know that this is the only green I have on my wardrobe right now – and I wore it to spin class. At least I made the effort!
I didn’t intentionally plan it – but I have been really taking advantage of being pampered lately. As I mentioned, it started with the housecleaners on Wednesday.
Look at how shiny!!
(I still need clean the other 60% of my house, but it’s nice to have a clean kitchen/family/living room!)
Then on Friday, I had a prenatal massage at Motherlove Massage.
I’ve only had one massage prior to this and it was HORRIBLE. It was incredibly awkward and I was in so much pain afterwards. I vowed to never go again, despite people telling me I HAD to give it another shot. Obviously, I’m glad I caved!
This time around, Pam made everything comfortable and she continuously made sure she was not causing me any pain. I am crazy ticklish, so there were a few times I almost jumped off the table (which would have been a sight to see), but I mostly just laid there trying not to drool. I actually caught myself snoring a few times – which I take as a sign as being a good massage! She said my shoulders were REALLY tight – which might be contributing to my carpal tunnel. I am not surprised.
90 minutes later, I left feeling so serene and refreshed (and I have slept SO well this weekend). If you are pregnant and wondering if you should splurge for a prenatal massage I vote YES! (just make sure they specialize in giving them – there are special techniques that are used). I definitely plan on going back for another massage in about a month or so (closer to my due date).
I went an extra step with the pampering yesterday when L and I treated ourselves with mother-daughter pedicures!
While B spent the day with my sister-in-law at Megacon…
L and I had some girl time together. We spent the early afternoon at a birthday party for one of her classmates.
On the way home we stopped by the nail place. It was L’s first pedi and she loved it. Considering I didn’t get my first pedicure until I was in my late 20s, she has me beat!
They really just put her feet in the water and painted her toes.
The guy who did our toes also did her fingers (and added glitter) for no charge. So sweet! (FYI – she managed to pick off all of the finger polish by this morning *sigh*) L had a great time and cracked up the nail tech by telling him “her toes were busted.” <–totally gets that phrase from her dad.
I have to admit, my toes were in DIRE need of some pampering.. and in effort not to scare everyone in the labor/delivery room – I might have to keep up this kind of pampering too.
Sidenote: I learned an awesome tip to avoid smudging — paint on a little olive oil on top of your painted nails! It helps them dry faster too.
The closest I’ve seen my toes in months – aren’t you lucky?
So as you can tell, this has been a pretty nice weekend! Still busy, but a nice reminder that it’s really IMPORTANT to take some time out and pamper yourself a little bit every now and then.
When’s the last time you pampered yourself? Are you a fan of massages? Up until this week I would have said no!!
