Starbucks = Spending $$

I took the boy up to Starbucks today in an effort to leave the house without spending massive amounts of money. Can I be honest here? I’m pretty sure the REAL reason I could not be a stay at home mom (besides possibly acquiring a drinking problem) is that my shopping would be OUT OF CONTROL. I don’t have a lot of places to go with a newborn and, because it’s so freakin’ hot here ,it’s hard to get in outdoorsy stuff. That leaves me the mall or Target… and we all know that’s dangerous.

In any case, instead of driving I decided to suffer through the heat (it was 85 at 9am) and walk. Starbucks is exactly 1 mile from my house, so I thought it would be perfect. It took me almost an hour to throw on workout clothes, feed the boy, put on some makeup, and feed the boy again before leaving, but I did manage to finally leave the house. Instead of wearing a sports bra (none of them fit at the moment), I wore a nursing bra. This one from Target.

While I really LIKE this bra for every day wear (plus it’s under $20 – score!), wearing it to go on a walk was not the best idea. Running across the street in this bra to avoid oncoming traffic (even though I had the walk symbol)? Painful and almost a wardrobe malfunction. Lefty is bigger than righty and I’m pretty sure lefty was trying to make an escape. Yikes.

I knew I needed to buy new sports bras (TMI, but when I’m nursing I go from a small B to a DD), but this pretty much drove me to purchase them STAT.

I did a quick survey on Twitter the other day (because you know, instead of Googling you can just poll everyone about your boobs via Social Media) and pretty much everyone who either has big boobs, breastfeeds, or has big boobs because of breastfeeding recommended Moving Comfort.

I researched every style for what seemed like hours and finally decided that I would probably either like the Fiona or the Juno.

So what did I end up doing? I came home and ordered both of them. And then I also ordered a new pair of running/workout shoes….

So in summary: In an effort to save money, I went to Starbucks, came home and spent money.

Sounds about right, doesn’t it? *sigh*

Guess I should stop spending money on myself and buy some Father’s Day/Birthday gifts now, huh?

I know exactly what you’re saying. Most activities we do when we leave the house involve spending money. However, my amazon prime membership also gets me into money spending trouble without leaving the house :). I hope those sports bras work well for you!

Somehow I managed to survive 8 weeks of maternity leave before it dawned on me that online shopping was my friend (frenimie?). B has been colicky and pretty much hates going anywhere (unless it’s Grandma’s). So last week I made up for all that lost shopping time and I’ve had an Amazon box on my porch daily for a week! I also discovered online grocery shopping and delivery after a 20 minute screamfest for a couple baking items. Ok and there is an ad for said delivery service on your blog…it’s stalking me isn’t it? How did I not know about this before?! Anyway, don’t feel bad, I’ve been spending away as well :)

Oh you are LUCKY! Amazon is EVIL. I’m trying to be good and not shop for the next few weeks.

And yeah, that delivery service IS stalking you. Ha ha.

I hope that B is less colicky soon :(

It is adjustable, but I’m sure it will be too big. At least it will last me the year — and maybe again when I get the girls done :)

Those shoes are the Brooks PureConnect 2. I COULD have gotten purple, but figured I needed to switch it up. And I love that color too!

Dan’s Father’s Day gift is a grill…we just haven’t bought it yet. He needs to pressure wash the porch first. Lol.

I wore those bras during my pregnancy! I am (sadly) beyond that size now. Lol. I will probably return to them though once I am not pornstar size anymore.

The brand is Moving Comfort. Can’t wait to try them out!

This is exactly my life! My husband laughed at the Target comment. I would drive us to bankruptcy if I didn’t work! I’m now 14 weeks PP and I bought the exact new sports bra (love it!) and just bought new Pure Cadences, too!

I think we might be living parallel lives! My bank account would cry if I didn’t work. Good to hear about the bra! Oh and do you like the Pure Cadences? I was tempted to try those out because they have a little more support.

I had the Juno. I loved it, but it takes a lot of trial and error adjusting to find your perfect fit. I took mine on a 12 mile run the first time I wore it and it cut into my shoulders and collar bone pretty bad. I guess the rule is the same for new shoes and new bras alike.

That what one of my friends texted me after she read this post. And I DO think that the rule applies to all things running. I’ve bought a few running skirts and shorts that made me cry they hurt me so badly!

I don’t have kids myself, but I find it interesting that all of my friends that work instead of being stay at home moms say the exact same thing as you – while they were home with the newborn, they were super bored and would spend way too much money shopping.

Maybe it’s just a sign that we are meant to be working moms? It’s hard for me to go back, but there is NO doubt in my mind that I am meant to work and be a mom.

I have only worn the Fiona for running the past few years. I love it!!! I also have no intention on trying another one, however the Juno intrigues me.

I’ve heard from friends (after they read this post) that they’ve tried the Juno and it’s hard to get into — so we’ll see. So happy to hear good things about the Fiona though!

Sounds about right. Not only did I skip my race this morning due to thunderstorms, but we then decided to go out for breakfast and hit up the sports store where I bought new shoes as well. Sigh. $$$

Oh my goodness…you crack me up!! “acquiring a drinking problem” – seriously the best line ever. I live about a mile from Starbucks too, so I walk with Nia ALL the time. My addiction to it and online shopping is bad. And I have no plans to go back to work while I’m still in school. Some might feel sorry for my hubby right now lol

i love moving comfort bras! I have several Junos and now they are too big but I can adjust them and they work. I have a couple of others from moving comfort that fit better but the Juno just works the best!

it’s easier to stay home as the kids get older. There’s lots more stuff to do with toddlers than with newborns!

I am SO happy to hear good things about these bras (especially that you can adjust them and they still work!).

I am definitely not cut out to be a SAHM, BUT I do believe you that it’s easier as they get older. I would love to work part time so I could volunteer at B’s school/be there when they get home. The hardest part of working is only being able to spend a few hours a day with the kids!
