So it begins… another week. Well, at least Monday is over.
It was MUCH easier to leave the house at a somewhat decent time today (before 8:30 – so that’s a victory in my eyes!). It was still hard to say goodbye to my little guy, but it was easier than last week. Just knowing I’ll be able to hog him the entire day on Friday helps.
Now if only I could turn my BRAIN on and focus on work. I feel like someone forgot to get the wheels turning today (and most of last week too). What’s that hamster doing in there?
I switched things up this week and went grocery shopping in the morning yesterday — so this meant that I was less starving and actually planned (kinda) more balanced meals this week. The focus is still simple, of course. This is the menu for the week…
- Barbacoa Beef Tacos
- Frozen Meal – Newman’s Own Orange Chicken with Brown Rice
- Salmon, Broccoli, and Rice
- Orzo Pasta with Grape Tomatoes, Peppers, and Chickpeas
- My favorite salad (Chicken, Berries, Peaches, and Pecans)
- Tomato and Mozzarella Paninis
- Steak and Tater Tots
I made the beef tacos last night and they were excellent AND sooooo easy. Because I went shopping in the morning, I was able to make it home and throw everything in the crockpot in time for dinner. Yes, these are things I get excited about these days.
One of these meals will probably be replaced with a meal out… Dan has a basketball game on Wednesday around dinner time and it’s easier (as in I won’t lose my mind) not having to wrangle all three kids AND make dinner (especially since E is usually starving around 6pm), so I’m thinking it’s a California Pizza Kitchen kinda night.
As for workout, I have to say I am pretty impressed with myself…
I managed to fit in 4 workouts last week! I get a prize for that, right? No? Just a raging appetite and sore muscles?? First, I ran 2 miles on Tuesday WITHOUT pain! I also did a few spin workouts, a few strength workouts, and I ran 3 more miles on the treadmill on Saturday. WITHOUT ANY PAIN! Woo-hoo! They weren’t the fastest miles, but who eh cares – I was running. I think the abductor and hamstring exercises, along with the spin workouts are really helping my hips. Or I’m willing myself to feel better. Regardless, I’m upping the mileage this week!
- Monday – Off
- Tuesday – 3 Miles
- Wednesday – Off
- Thursday – 2-3 miles
- Friday – Solo Spin + Strength
- Saturday – 4 miles + Strength
- Sunday – Spin Class
Again – if I squeeze in 3 of these I will be happy! Truthfully, sometimes it’s better for this to happen…
Or sometimes I just want to go to sleep….which is what I’m going to do RIGHT NOW. (or soon, I swear)
