Thursday Things

March 14, 2013 by Michelle 18 Comments

First – thank you ALL for your comments and tweets and messages about my last post. I may have been a teeeeny bit hormonal when I wrote it, but it really did come from a real and terrifying place. It makes me feel less terrified knowing that I am not alone. We will survive this whole parenting thing!

Other than hormonal breakdowns – here are a few other things going on in my life…

1. B has a supernumerary tooth.

Untitled

I actually found out about this 6 months ago, but kinda forgot about it.

I was wondering, when he lost his front tooth in October, why he lost that tooth first. Usually teeth fall out in the order they appear – and his bottom teeth were definitely the first to come in. Well, apparently the extra tooth pushed his baby tooth out! You’ll notice that the tooth growing in it’s place is not your typical adult/permanent tooth. According to his dentist, this is NOT completely uncommon (and apparently is hereditary  and as long as it doesn’t interfere with his other teeth falling out/coming in it’s not a big deal. If it’s still chilling there at his next appointment (in 6 months) we’ll discuss pulling it. But for now this just means that B gets an extra visit from the tooth fairy.

Of course that doesn’t mean I don’t think it’s freaky and weird and cool all at the same time. I mean – that extra tooth has been there this WHOLE TIME. Weird, right?

2. Veronica Mars THE MOVIE is happening.

 VM

Paula and I are going to be racing in our VM Movie t-shirts later this year because OF COURSE we donated. I CANNOT WAIT.

If you’ve never watched Veronica Mars — here’s your chance. The WB is streaming all 3 seasons right now: http://www.thewb.com/shows/veronica-mars

Watch it. You won’t regret it.

3. My blog has a new look!!

 CRL NewLook

During the 28-Day Blog Challenge, I hired Larissa to redesign my header, social icons, and an email signature. I gave her some really vague details on what I was looking for and she did a great job channeling them into a finished product! What do you guys think??

Oh, and I also updated my blog email address… it’s now michelle@crazyrunninglegs.com. You know, for all of your emailing needs 🙂

4. My kitchen is the cleanest it’s ever been.. or at least it was for a brief time yesterday.

Untitled

I bought a Living Social deal more than 6 months ago and finally used it yesterday. I have to say – it was worth it! My kitchen looks so pretty and I feel so clutter-free — and man, that is a good feeling! We had two women come in for 1.5 hours. They also mopped my floors and did a TON of dusting. After this experience (it was the first time I’ve had anyone come in and clean), I can definitely see the allure of having a regular service come in once/twice a month. It’s not happening now, but it’s on my someday list…

5. I decided to become a Bulu Box ambassador!

Untitled

I’ll have more details for you soon (and my review, I just got my first box), but if you’re interested you can check out it out here. <- This is my own personal link and in full disclosure if you sign up through it, I DO get a commission.

6. I’m self-diagnosing myself with pregnancy-related carpal tunnel syndrome in my left wrist.

Untitled

There’s my wrist!

My left hand has been tingly for a few weeks now and recently the pain has set in. My plan is to buy a wrist guard to wear it to bed. I’m pretty sure sleeping on my left side is aggravating it. Yay! So fun!

7. 32 weeks and counting.

Untitled

I know everyone is really looking at my bleached out towel. This is the kids’ bathroom, OK?

The latest my Dr. will let me go is 41ish weeks. So, worst case scenario? I have about 9 weeks left. That single digits!

I HAVE made a little progress (still no paint though)… I went through all of my bins and picked out enough boy and girl newborn/0-3 month clothes to last us at least a week.

Untitled

PS – Girl stuff is way cuter.

There’s a bunch of gender neutral stuff in there too. It’s now washed and waiting to be hung up. Now, I just need to work on the rest of the room.

8. This is what L decide to play in yesterday after getting home school.

Untitled

Could she BE any cuter (or wearing any more clothes)?

Happy Thursday!

Random Things Thursday

February 21, 2013 by Michelle 15 Comments

Christmas on a cracker — I am so happy it’s Thursday!!!!

This week has been all over the place. I haven’t been crazy busy, but I’m just off kilter or something. I blame it on the holiday. Don’t “short” weeks always feel longer? It doesn’t help that I’ve been struggling with a allergies. Or maybe it’s a cold? I don’t know. Whatever it is, it’s keeping me up at night and tonight I’ve hit my wall. After 3.5 hours of sleep last night (thanks to an extra special bout of insomnia) I am exhausted! Anyways, enough complaining.  Here’s  what else is going on…

1. In case you haven’t heard, there’s this little race going on here this weekend.

Untitled

I’m excited to find out what a course monitor does (I’m guessing just directing runners and cheering them on). If you’re racing, look for me before you hit the Magic Kingdom in the Auto Plaza. I’ll be the one dressed like all of the other volunteers – except with that basketball I smuggled in. While I won’t be charging you to to park your car, I do accept tips.

Who’s racing and what are you wearing? I know I’ll be on the lookout for Andrea, Jeannie, Victoria, Jen, and Rachel. Anyone else?

2. I can’t stop eating these Greek Yogurt Pancakes. I might need an intervention y’all.

Untitled

Untitled

For the record, I have never seen my kids eat so fast. Nor have I ever felt so satisfied eating pancakes. Especially since they consist of 5 ingredients (plus coconut oil to cook in – but you could use butter/Pam too!). This recipe (changed slightly from the above link) makes 6 very thick pancakes:

  • 2 cups of greek yogurt (your choice! I go with vanilla)
  • 1 cup of flour
  • 2 tsps of baking soda (combine with flour before adding)
  • 2 eggs, and blueberries (probably 1/2 cup?).
  • Sometimes I add a little water to thin out the batter. Just a tiny bit.

Mix together. Make pancakes on low heat. Eat them. Love them.

3. Despite telling myself I wasn’t going to buy a stroller… I bought a stroller. A Bumbleride Indie.

Untitled

I was going to get a BOB, but then Andie suggested this one (since I have no intentions to jog with it) and man did it sound RIGHT up my alley. I knew they were $$$, but did I search anyway and found one for a great deal. I couldn’t pass up the offer (and I know it has great resell value). I figured I can even test it out with L before May (helllooo upcoming Little League games!) because she is not even close to weighing 45 lbs. I’ll do a full review in the near future 🙂

4. I love that he loves to read.

Untitled

It’s been very hit or miss with B lately and I definitely have been feeling like a bit of a parent failure. Until I saw this today. I guess we’re doing something right. Even if it’s fleeting! I’m definitely savoring these moments.

5. I got my haircut on Tuesday!!! I love my stylist. It only took her an hour and a half total to highlight (3 colors!), cute, AND style my hair.

Untitled

Scary.

Untitled

Scarier.

Untitled

Phew.

6. My tongue hurts.

Untitled

Damn chicks, ducks, and bunnies.

So what’s going on in your world? What’s the last big deal that you scored? Favorite candy?

Three Things Thursday

Happy Valentine’s Day!

vday

Do you feel my contempt for the “holiday”? It’s not that I’m against the idea of love – I just… think it’s so sensationalized. I did send my kids to school with Valentines and I did get flowers from Dan, but BAAAAH- HUMBUG. Maybe I’m just not in the mood to celebrate this year, because I don’t remember feeling so “blah” about it last year. Or maybe I just have a cold, black heart. Did you celebrate?

In any case – here are 3 things unrelated to Valentine’s Day.

1. I made pancakes for dinner last night and they were AMAZING.

Protein pancakes with fruit dinner. Living the crazy life!

Not just any pancakes – Greek Yogurt Pancakes.

Source: everydaybelle.com via Michelle on Pinterest

I was tempted to make them for dinner again tonight because they were that good. But, then I dropped the rest of my eggs on the floor when I opened the fridge tonight and that was the end of that dream.

I’m going to play around with the recipe and post a version of my own later next week. Be on the lookout!

2. I have banned myself from buying new running shoes until June. I simply don’t need them – but that doesn’t mean I don’t look at them. OFTEN. (if doesn’t help that I get emails from both Running Warehouse AND Roadrunner Sports) This of course does not ban me from buying shoes for B. Which is exactly what I did today. His next pair of running shoes…

GelBlur33OrangeKids

Aren’t they pretty? I bought them solely on how they look – they have gotten really great reviews (for kids and adults).

3. The hubby and I are going on a real date tomorrow night. We’re going to see Imagine Dragons…

Ummm… are there really stuffed animals and Lou Diamond Phillips in that video? What the?

We’re also planning on eating a full meal sans kids (well, except this one I’m carrying around) — it’s the first time we’ve been out in a while! The show is at the House of Blues, which I like to call Paula’s Place. Surprisingly  I’ve NEVER been there!

3 Random Questions:

1. What’s your favorite breakfast food for dinner?

2. Have you ever banned yourself from shopping? For what?

3. What’s the last concert you went to?

Three Things Thursday {includes my favorite Margarita recipe!}

January 31, 2013 by Michelle 16 Comments

Thank you all so much for your nice comments and commiseration on not running again until after the baby . Yes, I was being a bit dramatic – but it does surprise me how much it bothers me. I guess that means I really love it!

Instead of dwelling, now it’s time for another Three Things Thursday. Let’s get down to business.

1. Just because I’m not running doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate my compression socks.

Untitled

I actually forgot I bought these and busted them out this week. Some timing right? They are definitely helping me with with my silly varicose veins and helping me avoid middle of the leg cramps <–those are the WORST.

I know a lot of people run in these things. I’m not 100% convinced that they would help me. I guess I’ll find out sometime this summer!

2. Tonight is the series finale of 30 Rock. *sniff*

30 Rock

LizCry

I remember the first time I watched this show, I HATED it. Then I forced myself to keep watching and now it’s seriously one of my top 10 shows ever. It’s ridiculous and over the top and it makes me love Alec Baldwin.

LizChair

I am surprised it’s lasted for as long as it has and I’m so happy it will live on in syndication. If you’ve never watched or just caught an episode and thought “WTH is going on with this show?” give it a chance because it silly, but so incredibly smart. Plus: Tina Fey.

PaperClips

3. Tomorrow we are having a chili cook off at work! I teamed up with a few of my coworkers to form “Veg on the Edge.” Yes, our chili is vegetarian. We’re also serving margaritas, because what’s chili without a few margs? Of COURSE, I will not be drinking them (Boo!), but we are using the margarita recipe I discovered last summer. I promised to share it and despite the odd timing – here it is!

Margs

Simple Lime Margaritas

Ingredients (makes 1 large margarita – I usually make it in batches of 4)

  • 2 ounces simple syrup
  • 3 ounces of freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 3 ounces of quality tequila (I prefer silver over gold)
  • 1 teaspoons of orange liquor (I use either Cointreau or Triple Sec)
  • Ice
  • Salt for rim (optional)

Directions:

Salt the rim of your glass. Combine ingredients into a shaker. Shake. Pour over ice. Drink. Keeping drinking. Drink one for me.

3 Random Questions:

1. Compression socks – yay or nay?

2. All time favorite TV show? (I’ll go with Friends, but my top 5 are in a tight race)

3. Favorite cocktail?

Three Things Thursday

January 10, 2013 by Michelle 11 Comments

This has truly been the week with 1000 meetings. I swear for the past 4 days I’ve gone into work with zero meetings on my calendar and left spending at least 5 hours on conference calls. I am WIPED and I’m in desperate need of a hard drink (aka Orange Juice on the Rocks), so let’s get to Three Things Thursday – shall we?

1. If you tried to read my actual blog (and not from G-reader or something) yesterday I am SO SORRY. I updated my theme last night and at the same time my internet slowed to a crawl. I was beyond frustrated!

New Theme2013

I’m actually still trying to figure out this theme. The CSS Stylesheet is NOT cooperating with me (it’s probably more like I am an idiot and I have no idea what I’m doing). The reason for the change? Well, after not being involved with an ad network for some time (I was briefly with Foodbuzz, until I felt bad because I stopped blogging about food!) — I signed up with the Glam Network! I am still in the process of setting everything up, so bear with me.

Glam

(source)

I am excited to partner with Glam. As I posted previously, I’d like to grow as a blogger and a writer this year and this is my first step. Mad props go to Katy for pushing me to contact them, as I really didn’t think my blog was “big” enough to apply. She’s also put up with about 10 stupid questions from me – so thanks lady 🙂

2. I got to visit the cutest newborn in Orlando yesterday!

IMG_5654

I invited myself over to Victoria’s yesterday for lunch (don’t worry, I brought food!) and we had a chance to catch up. Charlotte is SO sweet and I got in plenty of baby snuggles that definitely made me excited for May!

IMG_5651

Victoria looked great and was a total natural. I don’t say that about all new moms (and I’m pretty sure you couldn’t have said that about me when I had B!).

IMG_5653

Sidenote: If you haven’t read her first postpartum post yet, you should. She definitely tells it like it is! It may sound horrifying and scary, but it’s real and you’ve gotta appreciate that!

3. I stopped by this place for a little bit on Tuesday…

Untitled

I didn’t stay long, but I did have a chance to pick up my credentials for Sunday.

Untitled

That’s right, I’m volunteering at the Walt Disney World Marathon again!

photo

This time I will be at mile 11.5 handing out either bananas or Clif Shots — and I have to be there BEFORE 3:45. Oy. It’s worth it though – there is just no better feeling in the sport of running than supporting someone running a marathon, well besides finishing a marathon!

Let me know if you’re going to be there and what your bib number is so I can be on the look out for you!

Three Random Questions:

  • What’s the last thing that frustrated you?
  • Do you like to snuggle with newborn babies or are you an observer?
  • Would you rather cheer on or run a race?
