#16

Yesterday was a pretty great day for a race. The course was flat. There was little wind. The weather was perfect. My favorite people were cheering me on…

This is as good as a family picture gets these days.

Considering it was the Inagural race — things ran pretty damn smoothly.

Oh, and did I mention…I PR’d!

My Garmin came up a little short. It definitely felt like 13.1. And that's a PR. Yeaaaah bitch.

My official time was 1:57:16

Sidenote: My Garmin came up a little short – but everyone else’s ran long. *shrugs* Regardless, it was a USATF Certified Course and my legs DEFINITELY felt like they ran 13.1 miles!

So, the winner of my giveaway was…

Winner

Yes, Kate also guess the day that Evan would born in our work pool, so (obviously) she is now my personal psychic. Congrats Kate!

Thanks to everyone who guessed!

More race report details to come :)

Guess My Race Time – {Giveaway}

I haven’t mentioned it in a while, but I have a race on Sunday.

CelebrationHalf

It was the first race I signed up for after having Evan, so you could say I have been waiting to run it FOR A WHILE.

Not only it is a brand-spanking new race, but just a few of my friends are running it – including these girls…

MePM

What, what?!?!

and of course, my best running buddy for life.

Now going into this race I feel pretty good. I have goals. I’m not really sure I’m going to hit them, but they’re there. Most importantly, I’ve been running. It hasn’t been ridiculously fast, but it’s been consistent. Plus, the weather has been PERFECT. See….

WeatherRace

So, I’m hoping for a decent race… And I thought I would up the ante with a giveaway of sorts. I want YOU (yes, you) to guess my time.

Paula has done this a few times before and it’s always fun to see the guesses. It might also push me to run hella fast. I’m oddly competitive like that.

The rules are simple… Comment below and be the the closest (AND the first — without going over) to guessing my time – and you’ll win a $15 Amazon gift card. Yes, a whole $15… But it’s $15 more than you had before you guessed. And guessing is free.

PS – My past race reviews are all linked here so you know what you’re getting into. May the odds be ever in your favor…

Challenge Nation Orlando <–Giveaway!

You know how I’m never super excited about “themed” races, right? Color Run? Pass. Mud Run? Pass Costume Runs? Meh. It’s just not my thing.

Paula is all about them and almost always has fun, but I guess I’m just a snob, I’d rather run a regular race. Until now.

Enter Challenge Nation Orlando.

Orlando

It’s a SCAVENGER HUNT race — think a local Amazing Race — and I couldn’t not be more excited!

Paula and I were contacted about running the race and have teamed up (our team name is TBD) and will be racing together on Sunday. Our goal is to not get lost. <–possible team name somewhere in there??? And it’s all happening next Sunday afternoon (10/27).

We also have JOINT giveaway (<–you should read her post because it’s funnier) going on for Sunday’s race. One winner will win TWO entries so that you can form your own team. Or maybe you want to join Paula and me?

Haven't said this in a while... Time to race! @eatwatchrun

We’re fun! Promise!

So if you live in Orlando… enter below. You just need to comment on one of our blogs. Maybe suggest a team name? You get extra bonus entries for tweeting about it, or liking us on FB/Twitter.

This giveaway will be open until Thursday. Even if you don’t win — I hope to see you there!

Blogs I’m Reading Lately + Airheads USA Giveaway

I haven’t been posting much lately, not from a lack of content, of course. No, it’s Murphy’s Law. When I want to write, I don’t have the TIME. Hence this very random post. On one hand I wanted to share with you my “reading list”… on the other hand, I have a giveaway. What to do? Oh, umm combine them. You’re welcome. Maybe?

One thing I have been doing lately, besides working (yes, I’ve actually been productive lately!), spending a lot of time with my crazies, and loving on this little guy…

Is read blogs, posts, articles… the whole internet, actually.

It’s pretty amazing how many blogs you can read in 15 minutes 3-4 times a day. I’ve actually added a bunch to my reader list! I’m always looking for more though – so here’s a list of my favorites and new additions.

Old Favorites

New(ish) (to me)

Send me to your blog if I don’t have you listed!! If you haven’t noticed, I love to read :)

On a completely different note – I was contacted by Airheads USA a few weeks ago about hosting a giveaway. My love of bouncing and any activity that burns an enormous amount of energy (for me AND more importantly my kids) made me say YES! immediately.

What is Airheads USA?
Airheads

It’s a kickass entertainment center where you can jump, sweat, and play. <–check out their website!

Why do you care? Well, if you live in Orlando, Tampa, or St. Pete I have 2 Unlimited Fun Passes (good for a month of jumping) to give away.

Zensah Compression Socks + Giveaway

Disclosure: Zensah provided me with a free pair of their Argyle Compression socks for this review. However, all opinions and observations are my own.

Woot! It’s my Friday!

It’s really been a hectic week for me and instead of getting better at this whole “getting out the door” business – I think I’m getting worse.

Seriously woman. Get your act together.

But those complaints are for another post…. What was I saying?

A few weeks ago, Zensah contacted me about doing a review and giveaway for their Argyle socks

My high school self squeeeeed at this because back in the day – I LOVED argyle. Seriously, I had like 20 pairs of argyle socks. I still might have a small collection…

Unfortunately, the color combination that I originally wanted was out in my size (I have large feet, this is a common theme) so instead of the super cute pink socks…

PinkZensah

I got the almost equally as cute blue and green socks.

Resting and recovering from a 4 mile run. Yes, 4 miles requires recovering these days.

So my review…

Well, the socks fit. So that’s a good start. I have compression sleeves from Zensah that are too short, so we’re making progress. As for the compression part — well, they’re not my favorite. However, I was wearing them post run for recovery and I like a thicker more supportive sock to well… compress.

They might be better to run in, but truthfully when it’s 90 degrees outside with 110% humidity – I’m wearing as little as possible – so I haven’t tested them out in those conditions. They ARE more lightweight than Pro Compression (still my go-to socks), which is a plus if you want to run outside and only need light support.

Another difference between the socks I’ve tested is that the sock portion of the Zensah are really thick. This is a feature that I really LIKE, but I like running with thicker socks on, so I think it’s a personal preference.

So my verdict? The socks are really cute, but lower on the “compression” side of things. If you are looking for something fashionable and lightweight to run in – these might worth trying out. If you are looking for a sock to recover in – these might not be your cup of tea. Anyone else have this same experience?

The good news is that, Zensah has offered to give one of you lucky (US Citizen) readers a pair of socks as well. Just leave me a comment telling me what color argyle socks you want and follow Zensah either on Facebook or on Twitter (added extra bonus points that I assume increase your chances if you tweet about the giveaway or follow me on FB/Twitter).

So go forth and enter… I’ll pick the winner on Monday!
